"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orchard cottage, this is the place to relax and unwind. So quiet and peaceful. For me an added bonus was the steam trains going past occasionally at the bottom of the garden. I managed to get photos of the Sir Nigel Gresley close up as it went by, I have driven a number of steam engines myself including this one and it was great to see it again. The cottage seems to have everything you need in it we took some DVD’s with us for the evenings and we had a meal in some nights and out others. We had breakfast there most days and lunch out. You must visit Whitby (by Steam Train of course) for the best Fish & Chips either the Magpie or we preferred the Quayside. Go upstairs if you can. We had meals in the Mallyan Spout Hotel in Aidensfield sorry I mean Goathland twice I had the best Broccoli & Stilton soup I had ever tasted I tried to get the recipe from the chef without success. The staff are also great here the feedback for this hotel is fantastic unlike some of the others, do your homework on the places you decide to eat or stay at there are no excuses for getting bad service or mediocre food when you have access to TripAdvisor. Bettys in York is also always on our list of restaurant’s to visit, great place with wonderful staff. We met the owner’s of the cottage Andrew and Margaret on the last day and they were extremely nice people. We are now in the process of booking the cottage again for a Winter break next October."

"We have just returned from our first UK holiday for many years and our very first holiday cottage rental ever. Mill Cottage was our holiday choice and what a good choice we made. The cottage was very spacious, well appointed, with everything you would want in a holiday cottage. A well presented secure garden was ideal for us and our dog, with plenty of seating and a sunny aspect. We could not fault the cottage, the owner lives close and we found them very helpful and friendly, not forgetting the "free range eggs he supplied. The village has a shop, butchers, fish & chip take away, restaurant and two pubs both serving food, so again most things you would want close by. Good roads provided easy access to coastal villages and with Whitby just a 10 min drive away and Scarborough only another 30 mins. Also easy travel to the wonderful North Yorkshire Moors, an area of outstanding scenery. If for a change you decide to catch the bus you will find a good service to Whitby to the south and Saltburn, Redcar and Middlesbrough to the north. Well sign posted walks are also close to hand, cliff top walks to Staithes and Runswick are ideal and easy to manage. We hope to return next year, sorry we will return next year, FIRST CLASS"

"Just returned from a three night break at Orchard Cottage with our dog. The cottage is beautifully restored, everything about it was perfect for us. The garden is enclosed and therefore safe for dogs and although the cottage is topsy turvy with the bedrooms on the ground floor and the kitchen and living area upstairs it's so nicely done, we didn't want for anything. It's situated perfectly for Heartbeat fans, only 1.5 miles to the Aidensfield Arms & the village. Nice little welcome gift of wine & milk in the fridge and a traditional Yorkshire Brack cake/biscuits......much appreciated & the wi-if is worth a mention as it was pretty good considering how isolated it is. We both slept really well, shower nice and hot, felt relaxed just being there and would like to recommend the Mallyan Spout Pub to eat in (dog friendly). Met the owners as we were leaving, nice to chat to them about their property in this beautiful area of the country. Highly recommended, would visit again (and Paddy the dog loved it!)."

"We spent a gerat week in this lovely apartment with my husband and 2 young children. The apartment is spacious ( with a good amount of storage space) with great facilities. DVD.s and games made the children feel at home, and the beds were very comfy. Lovely bathroom with roll top bath and seperate shower. This apartment is really central - just a couple of minutes from the cliff lift ( we hired a beach hut which I'd recommend doing if you intend to spend time down at the beach), and within very easy reach of town. It has great views ( the sea from the bay windows in the lounge and a bedroom, and of the abbey ruins from the kitchen), and was lovely and quiet. It comes with a parking permit for the West Cliff car park which is just a stones throw away. It has pacious bedrooms and open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. A great place to come"

"The location was amazing- within spitting distance of the NYMR - simply brilliant, it gave the holiday a very special and unique feel to it. Therewere miles of open space all around us, no phone signal and no WiFi- even with 2 teenagers, this was the perfect place for a break away from the stresses of everyday life. The walking was gorgeous. The garden was great for our very lively cocker pup - entirely enclosed. We loved Goathland- just 5 minutes away by car. We found the local people very welcoming even though they must be used to truck loads of tourists. We felt a real sense of loss as we drove away on our last morning....Orchard Cottage was one of the very best holidays we've had. Fantastic place."
