"Lovely holiday apartment all located on one floor. To enter the upstairs apartment, you have to climb a flight of stairs that turn. This might be an issue for less mobile people or elderly/large dogs with arthritis or mobility problems. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you might need for basic cooking. We cooked every night and had no issues with the kitchen. The dining table is a little bit low to sit up at but it wasn't an issue. The lounge and kitchen are open plan which makes for great entertainment. We had friends and family over and it was really easy and cosy to get drinks/food and entertain at the same time. The lounge itself is comfortable and cosy. The dogs loved the heated window seat and stretching out on the rug in front of the radiator. The bedrooms were very good. The beds were the most comfortable I have encountered in a rental property or hotel. Not too hard or springy like most (meaning that I didn't get propelled across the room when my very wriggly husband moved for the 100th time in the night). My only issue with the bedrooms are the windows are not very noise proof. If you're an early to bed kind of person you might be kept awake by noise from the pub. This was only an issue 1 night out of the week though. The bathrooms were very nice. You get a choice of a shower room or a claw foot bath in the other bathroom. Very nicely decorated and huge choice of towels/toiletries. The landlord was very friendly and accommodating. She lives in building which would be handy if you have questions or encounter difficulties. There is one normal sized parking space. This was adequate for us and friends could easily park in the public car park 3 minutes down the road. The space is for a normal sized car, if you have an estate/range rover type car this might be an issue. The area was nice and mostly quiet. Nice selection of places to eat, a COOP up the road and very enjoyable to spend a week in. The property was relatively dog friendly. The lack of garden was not really an issue as you have the whole of Hamble on your doorstep. However, if you have a dog that needs to go out in the night or is elderly and needs a lot of toilet breaks this might be an issue. I didn't mind going for a 6am and 9pm walk with my dogs it was actually quite relaxing. The area is very dog friendly with lots of pubs offering to accommodate dogs. The Hamble common, which is a 5 minute walk from the property, is great for the dogs and really beautiful to go and see the sunrise in the morning. You have the Victoria Country Park a 7 minute drive away which was vast and provided hours of walks. Make sure you bring your own dog bowls etc (easy to forget in a packing rush) as they aren't provided. Overall, we loved staying here. It was a great base for us to visit friends and family. We moved to Scotland 4 years ago and we needed a place for us all (myself, my husband, my mother and my two dogs) to stay to visit everyone. Thank you for having us."

"The lodge was in an excellent location, but was not ‘luxury’ as described. It lacked many basic essentials eg kitchen utensils, bath mat in shower room, laundry basket, placemats and the cleaning materials were sparse (take your own!). There was so little crockery for a family of five that we had to run the dishwasher half full or we’d run out - not very eco friendly. Only one towel was supplied for each person. The lodge afforded beautiful views through dirty windows and the dishwasher was not emptied on our arrival. The shower did not drain properly and overflowed. For an eco lodge, there was no provision for composting, not all bulbs were energy saving, there was an oil filled radiator in the lounge (flue installed for wood burner but no burner!) and the whirlpool bath took lots of water and energy to use (plus the plug was broken so water level dropped and bathroom got sprayed as a result!). The car parking was not directly outside, and although this did not bother us, the nearest spaces to the lodge seemed to be occupied by staff at the Mill, not reserved for guests. On returning to the lodges in the dark, there was no external lighting on the path to the lodges. It was the first cottage we have been to that didn’t leave a welcome pack of tea, milk etc, but you were entitled to free tea and cake at the Mill cafe each day. We used this once, but as we were out every day 10-5 when the cafe was open we would have preferred these items in the lodge. The biggest problem was WiFi. This was only available in the cafe despite there being a hard wired BT Hub in the double bedroom. The use of the Mill grounds was a bonus, but we were informed that we were only entitled to one free game of adventure golf during the week, and we were not permitted to take out a boat out of hours; even at our own risk. The pedalos were also all broken which disappointed our children. Really we feel that although the lodge was good, it was not excellent, and lacked the attention to detail that we have become accustomed to at other holiday properties."

"Lovely light airy open plan eco house.Practical things which could be acted on to make it even better - 1 Toilets didn't flush properly. Water constantly trickling through so took hours to refill after use. Awkward when whole party trying to leave together. Please sort the toilets out!2 Recycling instructions - there were none, which for an eco pod which makes much of its green credentials is poor. There was one green wheely bin - no information about whether this was for glass and cans, or paper and cardboard, or all together, and whether waste should be presented separated out or commingled. No food waste bin at all. Where does the residual waste go? When are collections? No excuse for an eco pod not providing recycling instructions.3 Provide better quality loo roll. The starter set of one roll per bathroom provided was one ply which is cheap, and the eco pods are not. If it's recycled then say so. If not then splash out on the sort of quality people usually buy at home. 4 The children were uncomfortable about sitting on the balcony because of the peacock poo. Could this be cleaned up more often? The boats - the pedals don't work well on the pedalled, put us off this year."

"We have no hesitation in recommending Ron's house for a stay by a family or group in this area. There are plenty of showers and toilets for the capacity of the house (10) The kitchen is well equipped, the bedrooms are well decorated with comfortable beds. The lounge with seaviews and the dining room are huge and well appointed. The breakfast room is darker, but we used it as an office during our stay. It provided a work area away from the rest of the group - excellent. The dog enjoyed the beach just across the road. The town is a few minutes walk along the coastal path. the butcher's and baker's shops are first rate and the Italian restaurant is the best I have eaten in outside of Italy. The agent, Alistair is a star and saw to our every need promptly and courteously."
