"I feel that the owners of the property were disingenuous by mixing descriptions of two of there other properties alongside the one we rented for a week.IT WAS NOT ON A FARM as we expected, but tucked alongside the main road (right next to it). There was not one blade of grass for my grandchildren to play on only rough aggregate hardstanding for cars. The so called lovely patio was a small flagged area in the corner with a table, chairs, umbrella and a BBQ. Right next to the wall with the road the other side of it.We paid over £1,400 for the week for a mediocre property, quite dark inside, and not as well equipped as I understood it would be. No sieve, DVD player would not work. Several signs throughout the property telling us what we could not do, which I was cross about, given the circumstances. The equine centre was across the road (which was busy at times - and we never found the so-called track to the beach) again somewhere across the road. While tidying up to leave, my son moved the beds to vacuum behind them and it was obvious that it was some considerable time since they had been moved. All in all, the stay was very disappointing, I would not recommend this property for anyone with children, no nice playing area and balls etc could easily go over the wall and end up in the road, or hit passing vehicles.I feel that the description of the property as fairytale and could not think of one nice aspect of staying there the whole week!!!!"

"Maybe we should have looked into the property further but we just didn’t anticipate how far from the main road it was. It became a family joke that it would take 15-20 mins to get back to “civilisation” when we went out, and it was such a drudge when coming back after a day out exploring - there was certainly no popping back out after tea or taking a stroll down to the local! Not having TV or internet didn’t bother us but the feeling of isolation did. Also it’s very important to note that it doesn’t suit a family of four at all (as per the description) unless the two children are under 12 years old. My 15 year old had to sleep downstairs as one of the beds are only accessible to those who are small/short. The double bed has no support to the mattress whatsoever which didn’t suit my husband with spinal issues. In the end we managed to check in for two nights somewhere else and cut our holiday short, so we stayed 4 out of 7 nights at the cottage - we just couldn’t tolerate the isolation any longer. We left a bag of kindling and a bag and half of firewood we had purchased for the next lodgers to enjoy - but be mindful of the fumes which gave us all headache unless we kept the door open! (CO2 detectors are in situ). Not for us. We won’t be returning to Cwm Penmachno!"

"Wow! Absolutely loved this cottage from the minute we stepped foot inside. Met the owners as we arrived and they gave us all the information we needed along with the helpful books with instructions and information for everything. We arrived just in time for the Pennal show weekend, and the village could not have been more welcoming. Machynlleth is only a very short drive to the shops and Aberdovey only a bit longer to reach the lovely beach. We also visited Aberystwyth and Barmouth and checked out the awesome Mach loop! Corrie craft centre is also worth a visit. The kids really enjoyed the games room in the evenings and the dogs loved the long walks up the hills and along the river. But the best thing is sitting in the garden and looking at the stunning scenery. Worth every penny! If you are looking for somewhere more metropolitan then Pennal then this not for you. If you are looking for a comfortable and well equipped cottage with stunning views of Snowdonia National Park, I cannot recommend Trellywell highly enough."

"We spent a fab week at this lovely, quirky cottage. The location is great for hill walking, with amazing trails (ie. Snowdonia slate trail) literally on the doorstep. Beautiful place both in the sunshine and under the snow. The cottage was homely, and pet-friendly which was a plus. The logburner will keep you cosy on cold evenings - make sure you have enough wood for the first night though... bring extra clothes in winter, and prepare for (lots of) rain anytime. Don't expect city luxury, shops, tv, phone signal or internet. The equipment is basic, but sufficient. The owner was amazing and handled my silly requests most kindly and efficiently ! Cycling sadly wasn't possible due to the weather, otherwise it should be a great activity in the area. The cottage really is recommended for walkers and nature loving folks, or those who want a break far away from the crowds, in simplicity. We would absolutely love to come back again."

"We had a fantastic stay at ty hir. The property was spotless on arrival with a very thoughtful welcome pack. It was spacious and comfortable. 6 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs stayed here and at no point did we feel cramped. The location was good with a local convenience shop a five minute drive away, the nearest supermarket is a Co op in Barmouth which is a 25 minute drive or a good 45 minute walk a cross the footbridge. There is plenty to see and do if your willing to drive half an hour in each direction, there are some fantastic walks with breathtaking view. This was the perfect family retreat for us and exactly what we were after. Id highly recommend ty hir and would love to come back again one day."
