"This was a well appointed 'cottage' with some very interesting features such as the sitting area located on top of the garage. The bedrooms were well appointed with loads of mirrors and you could see the sea from the very top bedroom. The downstairs rooms are large and comfortable although if you have 6 people staying at least one wil have to sit on a dining chair. The kitchen is not especially well resourced with equipment. This cottage can in theory take 6 people. The only large pan was a defunct aluminium pressure cooker and there were no really large bowls for mixing. In addition, I would have liked more than 3 dishwasher tablets. Feeding 5 people needs more. Some small kitchen knives would be useful. The fridge is behind a cupboard door and its easy to close the door but not the fridge door. This could do with a warning. We had to throw away some meat we had in the fridge becuase it had been left open overnight. A dustpan and brush would be useful (there is a vacuum cleaner) for all the sand! There are televisions in almost every room but the DVD player lacks a controller. We were promised a replacement which never turned up. An additional toilet would be really useful. In summary, if you're going take extra dishwasher tablets, toilet roll, some small kitchen knives and a dustpan and brush and check that there is a controller for the DVD player."

"This was the 2nd year that we have stayed here. The cottage was clean, warm and very peaceful. The woodburning stove is wonderful. We didn't use the Kitchen much as we tend to eat out or get takeaways a lot when we go away. The Aga looks very impressive though and I'm sure in the right hands it would be possible to cook some culinary delights (A book on cooking with an Aga is provided). This year we discovered the Sun Inn in Morpeth which provides a range of well-priced delicious food. Carlos Fish n Chips in Morpeth is also great for tasty fish and chips (it takes 8 minutes to get from there back to the cottage avoiding the A1 route). There is also a huge Asda a few miles down the road in Ashington for supplies and cheap petrol. The location of the cottage is great for Kilder Forest, coastal walks such as Durridge Bay and tourist attractions such as Cragside, Wallington, Belsay House and Castle, Berwick, Alnwick Castle, Kirkhale Craft Village, Bambrugh Castle, Lindisfarne and Chillingham castle to name a few. We went on the Chillingham Castle ghost tour which was very entertaining. The Metro centre in Newcastle is less than half-an-hour away on the A1 for shopping enthusiasts (i.e. my wife)"

"This cottage is located about an 8 minute drive from Morpeth, which is a lovely town with plenty of good restaurants. It is close to the heritage coastline, which is beautiful any time of the year. On arrival the key was easy to locate and the cottage was very welcoming with a lit fire and a welcome pack including wine, chocolates, sweets and dog treats. We would have preferred bread, milk, eggs and butter but all the same it was appreciated especially by the children and our dog! The cottage has a lovely new bathroom with plenty of hot water at all times. The beds in all rooms were extremely comfortable, too comfortable for teenage children who wanted to spent all day in it! It was a real novelty to cook on the fabulous Aga in the spacious kitchen, which was well equipped. However we would have found it useful to have had hand soap in the kitchen and a dishcloth and bin liners. We were disappointed with the log burner as despite it eating wood it gave out very little heat to the room but was aesthetically pleasing rather than a heat source. We had a great time in the cottage and it made a nice change from holidaying in our touring caravan."

"This property is very well equipped with everything that you need for a large group of all ages. It had well stocked kitchen, generous welcome pack, beach towels and even toys in the garage to take to the beach! It is in much need of modernisation as the decor is very old fashioned however this is reflected in the price and it is much cheaper than other rentals of this size. With such an abundance of space and comfortable surroundings, it does not take long to ignore the dated decor.Perhaps purchasing a new suite would be a good start because they look a bit grubby and new mattresses on the double beds would be more comfortable. Lastly, dog owners will appreciate the large garden however there is a large gap under the front gate which we had to block using the car and wheelie bins for peace of mind. All in all, great value for money with lovely owners who were very accommodating when we left something behind which they kindly forwarded on to us."

"A lovely property in an excellent location, perfect for our Great North Run weekend (approx. 30 mins from Newcastle/South Shields). Overall the property was very spacious and well laid out with plenty of seating areas, an excellent dining area and 3 good bathrooms - all essential for our party of 13. The only thing I would say is that the kitchen is quite small with only a regular sized cooker/oven which meant a bit of a juggling act when we were cooking for so many, however, the kitchen was well equipped and had the benefit of good sized pans and plenty of serving dishes so we managed fine. Another positive was the large American fridge - so plenty of space for drinks as well as the food! The hidden games room was brilliant. We would not hesitate to stay again. A hot tub in that lovely inner courtyard would be a bonus to sooth our weary legs after the run!"
