"This was a well appointed 'cottage' with some very interesting features such as the sitting area located on top of the garage. The bedrooms were well appointed with loads of mirrors and you could see the sea from the very top bedroom. The downstairs rooms are large and comfortable although if you have 6 people staying at least one wil have to sit on a dining chair. The kitchen is not especially well resourced with equipment. This cottage can in theory take 6 people. The only large pan was a defunct aluminium pressure cooker and there were no really large bowls for mixing. In addition, I would have liked more than 3 dishwasher tablets. Feeding 5 people needs more. Some small kitchen knives would be useful. The fridge is behind a cupboard door and its easy to close the door but not the fridge door. This could do with a warning. We had to throw away some meat we had in the fridge becuase it had been left open overnight. A dustpan and brush would be useful (there is a vacuum cleaner) for all the sand! There are televisions in almost every room but the DVD player lacks a controller. We were promised a replacement which never turned up. An additional toilet would be really useful. In summary, if you're going take extra dishwasher tablets, toilet roll, some small kitchen knives and a dustpan and brush and check that there is a controller for the DVD player."

"This property is very well equipped with everything that you need for a large group of all ages. It had well stocked kitchen, generous welcome pack, beach towels and even toys in the garage to take to the beach! It is in much need of modernisation as the decor is very old fashioned however this is reflected in the price and it is much cheaper than other rentals of this size. With such an abundance of space and comfortable surroundings, it does not take long to ignore the dated decor.Perhaps purchasing a new suite would be a good start because they look a bit grubby and new mattresses on the double beds would be more comfortable. Lastly, dog owners will appreciate the large garden however there is a large gap under the front gate which we had to block using the car and wheelie bins for peace of mind. All in all, great value for money with lovely owners who were very accommodating when we left something behind which they kindly forwarded on to us."

"The cottage was spacious and an good sized garden. Unfortunately the decor is looking tired and dated , the cooker was not clean and baking trays and some of the crockery were also dirty. I was surprised that as we were asked to put the bins out on a Monday, that they hadn't left any spare bin liners for the household bins.I was also disappointed that we were disturbed in the evening by a couple of people wanting to view the house as it was apparently on the market, which they showed us on rightmove when we said it was a holiday cottage. With a little extra thought and attention to detail this could be made into an excellent holiday home.I was impressed by how swiftly Jonathan fixed the cooker, when it was blowing fuses and also updated us about the power being switched off. The welcome pack was also lovely, local tea, shortbread and jam."

"We had a great holiday in this lovely cottage. It is a wonderful blend of the old and new. The cottage itself is 400 years old and is decorated to give it an old-fashioned feel. We enjoyed the wood burning stove in the lounge. There is also a lovely aga in the kitchen. The bathroom is very modern with a walk-in shower. The main bedroom also boasts a super king size bed that is very comfortable. When we arrived we were very impressed with the cleanliness of the cottage. The location is rural but all modern amenities are just a short drive away. We found that it was a good base for exploring the north-east coast with locations such as lindisfarne and bamburgh within easy reach. Locations west of newcastle such as Hexham are also within an hour by car. More modern attractions such as the metro centre are just half-hour away south on the A1."

"Cottage location is 30 seconds from front door to promenade. Location is what sets the cottage apart. The lack of toilet facility is a negative particularly if the full sleeping contingent is staying at the property. The hot water supply to bathroom sink was very weak, however, the electric shower worked perfectly with strong water pressure. The parking facility is at the back of the property which was not a problem. Neighbours and locals were friendly and helpful. The cottage would benefit from a crockery replenishment. The Italian restaurant served the best fillet steak I can remember in a long time. View from upper floor overlooks the bay in part. Shame the weather was poor during our stay but the towns and locations around made trips out very enjoyable."
