"Absolutely nothing wrong with the cottage really and the location is great, specifically the access to the beach being just across the road. The fault is with the windows....whether open or closed they let in the same amount of noise and, being on the main street through town, constant noise of cars, etc during the day. This is bearable, but the pub across the road has karaoke night, music nights, etc which may as well be playing in the cottage until midnight. No chance of relaxing or sleeping. Every night there are youths skateboarding on the bandstand across the road, usually from midnight to 1.30am. This persistent noise has resulted in little sleep and, in all honestly, in need of a holiday!! The cottage is great however, though the downstairs bedroom smells very damp from the en-suite shower, and the town of Newbiggin itself is lovely....pick a different café each day! The big plus is the beach which is very expansive and, even with 7 days of sun, was frequently only with the 4 of us visiting it...a private beach. Sorry for the negatives, it's a quirky cottage that I wanted to pick up and put somewhere else, but if you want to sleep and unwind this is not the place for you."

"We were disappointed, however, to find that the off road parking was extremely awkward if you drive anything other than a small car. The front photo of the property appears to show a gravelled area which would be easy to drive on to. It doesn't show the angle at which you have drive through some gates and the bollard on the footpath. If there is a car parked opposite, this manoeuvre is impossible and you have to find a space to park in what is a busy street. Not ideal for us as my husband is a blue badge holder requiring parking close to the door. The property description also mentions a DVD player which was not at the property. The dishwasher was not working - this appears to have been broken since July. Other visitors have mentioned the lack of window coverings on the landing and in the kitchen as the property is overlooked, the lack of a full length mirror, cushions for the outdoor furniture, toilet brush and the non-existent instructions of what to do with your rubbish or recycling. Either this feedback is not being relayed to the owner or the owner is choosing to ignore what is extremely constructive criticism. With a few finishing touches, this cottage could be much improved."

"Graeg Neuk was a lovely place to stay.OVER All: The holiday let was freshly decorated and had everything and more that we could ever need.Decor: Really lovely. You could tell the owner put time and thought into this house.Living room: Big and comfortable with television.Dining room: Great and also had 2 large comfy chairs for watching television or listening to music. This became our 'go to' room.Kitchen: Fantastic. Everything I might need from good pans to white goods and all in great condition! So refreshing to find this.Equipment: We had a bit of trouble trying to turn the heating system off at the times we didn't need it. Also, we'd like to see the actual bath/shower freshened up a bit. Bathroom was fine.Cleanliness: Very clean.Location: Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. Perfect. The cottage was on a quiet street, Just a short walk from the beach front. Near shops and restaurants. We never had to drive more than 30 minutes to get to lovely Northumberland highlights for a day out. There's so much to see. We'd definitely recommend and we'll return some time."

"Really quirky little cottage but unfortunately it had a lot of negatives. Plenty of room for four people with two good sized bedrooms and two bathrooms, however the living space is tiny. Small microwave, absolutely no space to prepare food ( so much so that the toaster was in a cupboard!) And my absolute pet hate; two tumblers, two wine glasses, four spoons etc.By far the worst aspect of our stay was the noise. The windows are so ineffective that it sounds like they are permanently open. The pub across the road had karaoke till 12am, and we could hear every word as if we were in the same room. The cottage is on a corner and heavy lorries we’re driving past at speed all night. The gate where you can park you car, does not properly close, so not only is your car not secure but the gate bangs loudly every few minutes all night! I would advise that unless you are one of those rare people who can survive on two hours sleep, this cottage is not for you. We booked for three nights, but came home after one."

"It is a very well equipped cottage with everything necessary for 4 people. Decoration etc appeared to be newly done and was very pleasing. The situation of the cottage was excellent in relation to the beach, just a moments walk. The beach itself is extremely good. We had two dogs and they loved the freedom afforded by the huge stretch of sands. Lots of friendly dog walkers around too ! In terms of the locality I feel we suffered from poor weather. It is a place of beauty but the beauty becomes distant in the rain and mist. However, in good sunny weather I imagine the place to be quite stunning. Its not too long a journey to Whitley Bay which is a very popular place with lots of shops etc. If going North to Seahouses and beyond I would suggest use of the A1 and avoid the tedious coast road."
