"This is a very nice holiday cottage with easy access to local amenities (Co-op shop, pub, Italian restaurant, cash point) and excellent transport links into Edinburgh city centre - the bus stop was just 5 minutes walk with 2 routes running into the city - during the week, there was a bus every 10 minutes, so really easy and cheap to get in and out of the city. I managed to park up my car on arrival and not use it until my departure, so one less hassle on my week's holiday. The cottage is part of a larger building with other flats/apartments, but despite this, it was quiet and there was plenty of space to park. The flat is situated on the edge of a park and with a river running alongside it, again despite all of this, the area was quiet at the various times of the day that I went out and it felt safe to walk around. The owner was friendly and polite - on hand on my arrival with a basket of Scottish goodies and with information about the local area and best options for travel into the city centre. The cottage inside was clean and tidy with everything you could possibly require for a short break. I would definitely recommend this property and I suspect if I go to Edinburgh again, I would look to stay here again."

"We booked this cottage thinking it was a detached property, nothing in the write up suggested otherwise. On arrival we discovered we were in a small part of the property and it was occupied by Estate Workers living at each side and above the property. One set of people in the property above were extremely noisy (drilling at 9 pm and knocking in nails at 11.35 pm) My husband shouted up to them and in return they put the washer on at 12 midnight, this cycle went on till 1.30 am as a result we could not stand it any longer and packed up to go home the next morning. The write up mentioned that it was a 4 star property - we think this should be amended to a lower rating. The property was extremely small and uncomfortable, cupboards full to the brim with crockery (no where to put our own groceries) and also no wardrobe in the one bedroom, only a peg board on the wall with coat hangers. Beds did not to our knowledge zip together. Also no wood burner in this property (this was in another property). The estate itself was lovely and the lady owner was very friendly."

"I booked Gorebridge House for a surprise 30th Birthday celebration weekend for my daughter and 34 friends. The location is only about 30 minutes from Edinburgh centre so was perfect for people coming in on trains from different parts of the country. It was everything we could have wanted, huge reception hall, an enormous living/dining room for the party on the Friday which also housed a grand table setting for a formal dinner party on the Saturday. The kitchen is huge and well stocked with all the equipment we needed. The hot tub was a nice bonus after the Saturday afternoon Sports Day challenge held in the beautiful grounds. The owner David, could not have been more helpful, someone was on hand 24/7 to resolve any problems we might have (which were tiny I might add) Everyone drove away on the Sunday morning with the biggest smile on their faces with memories that will last forever. Can't wait to think of a reason to go back."

"We booked North Middleton Hall as our Home Base during a trip for 16 of us to celebrate my 40th birthday. The house was in a perfect location as we had ventured out for sightseeing and golf during a 10 day stay. The house is beautiful, huge, and had plenty of room for everyone to gather for meals, recapping our day, or just to put your feet up with a scotch and cigar. Armor was very responsive, checked on us daily, and was perfectly present and invisible. The home was very close to public transportation (walking distance) which are non-golfers could use to explore Edinburgh and beyond. The grounds were serene and peaceful yet the location was close enough to the city where we were not out in the middle of nowhere. Check out The Sun Inn for a perfect dinner out and I highly recommend Delilicious Catering to provide breakfast and dinners for your group."

"Cosy compact cottage. Pleased to see good size shower room with excellent shower and bath sheets. TV was adequate, no humming as reported in other reviews. Needs to be set on channel 2 then use digibox and make sure the scart lead is connected as we had problems to begin with but soon solved. Real flame gas fire cosy in evenings when cool and the owner did put the heating on when cold. An earlier review complained about the mattress - now has a foam topper in place. We had no problems sleeping. A paradise for golfers - about 26 courses in the area we were told. Do play the Glen at North Berwick if you do golf, beautiful scenery but 3-4 hills. Excellent food at the Longniddry Arms - do book if you are going. Great train service to Edinburgh and Musselburgh Races. (An enjoyable day out). Would stay again. Downside - no Wifi."
