"We had a fantastic stay at the farmhouse to celebrate 4 50th birthdays. A beautiful house with ample space for 3 couples and very well equipped. The only very slight constructive criticism would be the showers were not very hot and the dishwasher did not clean very well, I must add that neither of these spoilt our stay. Before the booking we had requested an early check in and check out, the check out was agreed with a charge of £50 for 2 hours. We were told early check in could not be guaranteed. We arrived about 1pm and parked at the farmhouse, had a look in the windows and it all looked clean and tidy, there was no one there so we walked over to the golf club and asked if there was any chance we could have the keys early, the receptionist said they were still in there cleaning, I said that was no problem we would be in the bar if they could come and find us when they were ready. Our friends arrived about 2pm and also parked in the farmhouse and said no one was there. The reception staff never came to find us, I went to the desk at 3pm and one of the receptionists said to her colleague “they can have them now”. The house had clearly been ready a while, I appreciate our check time was 3pm but don’t understand why if the house was ready what harm it would have been to give us the keys, especially when I had emailed previously requesting an early check in, and the reply was this cannot be guaranteed but not refused. We found the reception staff at the golf club came across unprofessional and unfriendly, comments such as “they can have them now” when we asked for the keys and one members of staff asked her colleague “how is your day” she replied “I want to kill someone” this was in front of a reception full of guests. The ladies working at the spa were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed a lunch in the hotel so booked for an evening meal which was very poor, it was served very quickly and was just about warm, they tasted like processed ready meals.I would definitely recommend this beautiful, well equipped and spacious house but would only use the spa in the hotel."

" On arrival there was a burglar alarm - which we weren't aware of and it took a while to switch off - but Sykes were really helpful and they said they would update the house information for new guests. It is in a great location within the woods and you can take a lovely walk down to the beach and within easy reach of Westbourne for restaurants. The house was comfortable. The pool was heated but when tested was 24C to 26C rather than 28C so although the children made good use of the pool, the adults not so much! However, there was a hot tub which was very nice. The mattresses were quite soft for our liking and we changed rooms but they were also soft. There was extensive lighting throughout the house and beautiful gardens but lots of switches in not quite obvious places. The electrics tripped a few times too. The gardeners came mid week (a warning would have been good and they should have buzzed at the gates, not just let themselves in) and the pool maintenance people came early on the last morning (although we asked the to come back as the children wanted a final swim, again why not buzz to request entry). Overall would recommend. "

"Overall we had a nice weekend at Marley Mount as the location of the property was great, but really mainly due to good company and weather! Unfortunately there were a few things, that for the cost of the property, disappointed us. There were a number of things broken and having children in our party, this was quite worrying, especially the electrical items - a lamp in the children’s bedroom virtually falling apart which we unplugged as it looked dangerous and the kettle lid was broken which some of us came close to burning ourselves on. It is so easy and fairly inexpensive to go out and purchase a kettle, I cannot understand why something so simple was not rectified. There were nails sticking out in the garden, broken parasol and the downstairs shower leaks on the floor. We paid an awful lot of money for the weekend and although the initial overall general appearance of the property has the wow factor, when you live in it you realise it’s quite shabby and tired in places. Also, the pool must contain a rather high amount of chemicals as my daughters hair went green and a number of her acrylic nails came off! Be careful if you dye your hair!"

"Starting with the positive We liked seeing horses, cattle and donkeys nearby, we even saw a bullfinch a matter of feet away. The disappointing aspect was that the owners of this place have NOT actioned the numerous previous comments about cleanliness. They basically need to give the place a thorough deep clean, remove and the thread bare rugs that have a nasty smelly dog odour. Previous reviews have mentioned the lack of cleanliness but, after a few years, we mistakenly thought these issues would have been resolved. Hearing laundry from 5 or 6 am in the morning wasn’t quite the wake up call we hoped for and hearing the rid~on mower randomly left running for half hours stints (with no one nearby) wasn’t relaxing. It really would not take a lot to make this place nice, the basics are fine and the bed was comfy but the dust affected us so much we had to leave a day early due to my husband having serious allergic reaction to the dust mites ~ a good clean and more consideration to paying guests would be a good starting place to make this a worthwhile place to stay."

"First time staying in Rosy Lodge and it's clear the owners put in a lot of thought into a holiday makers stay, a lot of pride goes into this lodge! Milk and orange juice in fridge upon arrival with plenty of kitchen utensils, washing up liquid/dishwasher tablets etc. Lots of games provided to enjoy with the family and extra bits for the children (beach buckets, crabbing gear, books and teddies). Theres even a highchair, travel cot and airer if you want to make use of the washing machine. Plenty of towels and bedding/pillows with VERY comfy beds in all rooms and I think the carpets are new throughout as they felt lovely under your feet. As you can tell we were very happy with our lodge, definitely recommend and also has some lovely local walks for yourselfs and the family dog (5 minute stroll from the beach) Thank you for such a lovely place to stay, as dog owners we are used to "second class citizen" accommodation and Rosy Lodge was such a breath of fresh air and a real pleasure to stay at. Kind Regards, The Owen Family"
