"Cottage was lovely apart from the very dated kitchen, old storage heaters and the very uncomfortable lower ground floor bedroom bed. Cleanliness was good apart from the windows which were very smeared. Location was quiet and a short walk to the shop and pub. There was nothing else in the village so was always a car journey to get about but not a problem. Recommendations: its nice to enter a warm place but it was like an oven when we arrived. A better heating solution is needed as the storage heater are all or nothing. Considering the price the kitchen needs replacing, it's not big so wouldnt take too much to do. All the furniture is old and mis matched. Unlike a lot of cottages we have rented there was no welcome note or package and no milk in the fridge (the small touches go a long way). I know all of this is personal taste but i believe everyone who stayed here would have a better experience if these changes were done. I would still stay again but only for the location and space and not for the quality of accommodation. And final point what a shame that we had to pay £300 more than a normal week just because it was school half term, greedy."

"Starting with the positive We liked seeing horses, cattle and donkeys nearby, we even saw a bullfinch a matter of feet away. The disappointing aspect was that the owners of this place have NOT actioned the numerous previous comments about cleanliness. They basically need to give the place a thorough deep clean, remove and the thread bare rugs that have a nasty smelly dog odour. Previous reviews have mentioned the lack of cleanliness but, after a few years, we mistakenly thought these issues would have been resolved. Hearing laundry from 5 or 6 am in the morning wasn’t quite the wake up call we hoped for and hearing the rid~on mower randomly left running for half hours stints (with no one nearby) wasn’t relaxing. It really would not take a lot to make this place nice, the basics are fine and the bed was comfy but the dust affected us so much we had to leave a day early due to my husband having serious allergic reaction to the dust mites ~ a good clean and more consideration to paying guests would be a good starting place to make this a worthwhile place to stay."

"It is a small wooden building at the far end of the owners land. The owners were friendly and helpful. It lacks wifi but the owner pointed out that it's distance from the house makes it not a practical proposition and they allowed us to come near to their house and log into their wifi to update things like whatsapp, emails, the weather app, BBC news etc which worked fine for us. Inside with fairly small windows and surrounded by trees and bushes it was a bit dark but that was not a problem for us. The TV is a decent sized flat screen and worked well but there was no DVD player connected to it. The bed was comfortable. The kitchen well equipped with all that we needed. There was a comfortable settee, (which could open out into a bed for a second couple) and the table had four chairs and the cutlery and crockery was for four although being so small we found it fine for the two of us but it might have felt cramped for four. The name describes it well tucked away in a large lawned garden with lots of trees around. We would happily return to this property again."

"We would thoroughly recommend this cottage, especially for a couple with dogs. The cottage was very well equipped and the only downside was the boiler which ran hot & cold about every 30 seconds when showering. This has probably been fixed now but lasted for the fortnight we were there. Staff were very helpful and supportive. The location was good but could be a little noisy at times and parking was cramped when the car park was full. We had hoped that the cottage looked out onto the cricket field but that was not the case, although the field is close by and 'dog friendly'. Nearby Fordingbridge is a lovely town with good shops & amenities and the proximity of The New Forest made it an excellent centre for walks and scenic countryside.Suffice it to say that we strongly recommended it to our next door neighbour as soon as we got home... and no one wants to give bad advice to someone one has to live next door to!"

"Yew Tree Cottage worked out extremely well for our party of 6 adults and 2 dogs. It has 3 large bedrooms, with 2 double beds in one of them and we enjoyed the kitchen being large enough to have a big table which we could eat and socialise at. It has a large garden so the dogs could have a run. We greatly enjoyed our week there. We found the location, right next to the A338 less of an issue than we expected, but it's no good staying at Yew Tree Cottage if you can't tolerate traffic, in the same way that the staircases to the bed rooms are very steep, so fine for us but no good if you have small children or someone who can't manage stairs. Again it would be preferable if it were in Fordinbridge rather than a couple of miles out as it's too far to walk, but you're not going to find a marvellous, large thatched cottage with big garden in the middle of a town."
