"Dolphin cottage is in a good location for visiting Port Isaac. The parking spaces were very useful. The cottage is spacious and cosy-the central heating kept the October night chill away. We did feel it lacked a bit of TLC but that might be because it was near the end of the season. However for a 4star property it lacked a lot of finishing touches. There wasn't any kind of welcome pack. The only extras in the whole house was a washing up sponge, a washing up brush, a tub of salt, a tub of pepper and toilet rolls. We would have expected a couple of dish washing tablets at least. There was no soap in the house, no tea towel in the kitchen and no cleaning products or equipment of any kind. If we had been warned that this was the case we would have taken our own. As it was we had to go out and buy dishwasher tablets, washing powder, cleaning products etc which altogether cost a fortune. The equipment in the kitchen was a mishmash e.g there were 6 glasses but not 6 the same. Dolphin Cottage could so easily be a higher graded property with a little of that TLC and a bit of investment in new equipment. We would visit here again because the cottage is still in an ideal location and we did have a really lovely week."

"Stayed here for a long weekend and had a great time! The lodge is a short (20 minute) walk from Port Isaac but, for those of you with children, 5 minutes of that walk is along a road with no pathway. There is a Co-Op down the road to get some bits and pieces which you will probably need. Minor downside to the place is that we needed to bring (or purchase) kitchen roll, toilet roll, tea-towels, handwash and stuff like that. Also bring towels - we did thankfully. Some places provide these sort of things, but it's just a few pounds if you have to buy them, so not a major concern. That place was comfortable and warm with the heating being very effective if you go on a cold and rainy weekend like we did! It was clean and tidy with loads of plates and cutlery. Shower was good. With a TV, the entertainment was fine - some DVDs available too! Mattress's were very firm - OK for me, but some might moan.It was very good value for money. Minor quibble was that it would have been nice to have had a quick 'hello' from the owner/site warden. We didn't see a soul, but it was no matter as nothing went wrong."

"A wonderful cottage, spacious, very well maintained and decorated. Fully equipped, everything has been thought of, and it feels modern while maintaining character through the provision of local art, pictures, photos and some quirky artefacts. The coal effect gas fires in both the dining room and living room maintained a cosy feel to the house when it got very cold towards the end of our week - though central heating on it's own was very effective. The tiered garden looked lovely though unfortunately not the month to sit out in it. Great views across the valley to the cliff walks, and the postion was great with a short walk down to picturesque Port Isaac with it's great pub, small shops and restaurants. A short walk up the hill to a decent well stocked small Co-op, and if wanting to splash out Outlaws Michelin 2* restaurant. Cliff walks close by. Having to contact the owners a couple of times we found them extremely responsive, enthusiastic and helpful which only added to the great time we had here and we would thoroughly recommend this cottage."

"The location to Port Issac is great, however this property is on a busy road and the house does have a lot of road noise. The equipment in the house is low end. I.E no sky tv and very limited free view due to signal. Also all of the crockery was chipped and cracked. The house is very damp and has Mould in all windows and on some of the walls. The worst area was in the understairs cupboard, where the skirting board was covered in Mould. All of our clothes and belongings have had to be washed to get rid of the awful fusty smell. The single bed broke with our 3 year old daughter in it. The double bedroom has an awful bed, which is unsupportive. My husbands legs ended up being higher up than his head! The bed linen smelt damp. The bathroom had a rotten bath panel, with duct tape holding the shower curtain in place. I think that there may have been something living in the roof as we could hear scurrying in there. Overall the property was possibly the worst I have ever stayed in for the price. It was below our expectations."

"From the moment we arrived at Carlenice I had a smile on my face. The owners have made a beautiful home here. Bright and airy with sunshine flooding through place. The decor again is bright and fresh, the beds comfortable and the whole place well equipped with everything you need. The outdoor areas are ideal with tiers at the rear leading to a private deck and summerhouse with views of the area. The property is on a quiet road a couple of minutes walk downhill to the harbour through the charming old buildings and parking for two cars. Negatives? Leaving and coming home for one, other than that the place, especially the kitchen cupboards, could have had a more thorough clean but I realise what a quick turnaround they have.Conclusion... I would love to return to Carlenice and walk the coast path, watch the sunset, have a glass of wine on the deck and drink tea in the morning outside in the sun listening to the gulls.Truly memorable."
