What our customers are saying about our Big Cottages In Pooley Bridge To Rent.

"We had a fabulous and relaxing time at Meadowcroft Cottage in August 2017. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Jill who gave us a tour of the cottage and helpfully explained where everything was and where to go to if we needed assistance throughout our stay. I have to say that the cottage was spotlessly clean and immaculately presented. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you would need from the microwave, dishwasher, large cooker, washing machine, tumble dryer, tassimo coffee machine (with complimentary coffee pods), to the wide range of utensils, ample crockery and serving dishes. I was particularly impressed that there was a floor to ceiling fridge and separate floor to ceiling fridge freezer, so plenty of room to store provisions for a party of 6 people. The complimentary bottle of wine and welcome card was a lovely gesture. The living room was spacious and cosy, with great views of the countryside and Ullswater and we even had some Sky Sports channels, much to the delight of my Dad who is an avid football fan! We didn't get to try out the log burner as the weather was so nice, but I would love to come back and sample it in the Winter months. The 3 bedrooms (1 king, 1 double and 1 twin) were all very well presented, with comfortable beds for a relaxing sleep. The king size bedroom had a very large chest of drawers, tall boy, wardrobe and 2 bedside cabinets, so plenty of space to pack away your clothes. The double bedroom had an elegant dressing table and built in wardrobe and the twin bedroom had a bedside cabinet and built in wardrobe. The bathroom was large and luxurious, from the free standing bath, to the double shower. There was also lots of storage space to hide your toiletries from sight. Although we couldn't fault anything, the highlight for us had to be the hot tub. We have been on many hot tub holidays, but this was probably the best one because the views were stunning whilst still feeling secluded, all the jets and lights were in full working order, the temperature was just right when we arrived (no waiting till the next day for it to warm up), the hot tub was checked up to 3 times each day and finally complimentary bath robes and slippers were provided for each guest. You couldn't wish to meet nicer people than the staff at Hillcroft; everyone was so friendly and wanted to make sure you were having a great time. We were sad to leave after a week's stay but the complimentary homemade ginger biscuits kindly given to us by a Jill helped to soften the blow on the journey home. Thanks again to the staff at Hillcroft - a wonderful park in a great location. We hope to visit again in the near future."

"Some air conditioning in the bedroomsHowever, a few things need to be improved: 1) Some kitchen equipment is lacking, e.g. no large frying pan (even though this cottage accommodates 8 people), the wok needs replacing, some pan handles were worryingly loose, and a large lidded saute pan would be very useful. 2) Most tumblers provided in the kitchen are a horrible green plastic. Please could we have glassware? 3) In one of the main bedrooms, the light in the en-suite didn't work and the mirror looks like it could fall off at any moment. Having said all this, we would happily stay here again - it is a lovely spacious house in a great location. However the light in the en suite bathroom in double room wasn’t working and the mirror was loose. Just a suggestion to the owner there was only one key for the house and another one would have been handy. There are two picknick benches on the patio but some comfortable seating would have been appreciated as we had a hot sunny week and it would have been nice to sit outside in comfort. The only other thing I would say is that perhaps the house is not suitable for older people. The ground floor is on two levels with steps in between, the two 80 yr olds we had with us found them a bit of a struggle. Did not spoil our enjoyment of the holiday and enjoyed staying in the house which is a short stroll into Pooley Bridge. Plenty of walks from the house. Good location for visiting north Cumbria and Westmorland. Would recommend the Eden Valley."

"Garden Cottage is a wonderful place to spend a holiday. We were there at Christmas 2018. The house itself is old and beautifully restored. It's spacious and comfortably accommodated our family of six. Dave and Angie are fantastic hosts. They had decorated the house with a huge tree and lots of festive touches, and left us a thoughtful and delicious gift. They also helped us by providing some extra kitchen equipment when we wanted to bake and even called us up quickly when we left some items behind. In terms of the accommodation, there are four bedrooms. Two are doubles, one is a twin and one is a single. The single has a TV. There are two bathrooms, one serving the bigger double and one serving the other double, the twin and the single. The kitchen is well equipped, although the oven has slight idiosyncrasies which we had to work around. The best room though is the living room which has big comfy sofas and armchairs and a large wood burner. We enjoyed cosy evenings there, but there is also a patio directly outside the living room which would be fantastic in the summer. There are bird feeders out on the patio and there was a constant stream of birds making the most of the food. All in all we would highly recommend this holiday home and would like to return for another visit in the future. Thank you Dave and Angie."

"Mill Moor is one of three self-catering cottages at Barton Hall Farm. It can sleep up to 7 people and it very spacious for 4! Downstairs is a twin-bedded room next door to a shower and loo. The shower mirror can be operated by waving a hand over the controls and can also connect to 'bluetooth' on your phone if you wish to play music while you wash! Upstairs are two very spacious double bedrooms and a single bedroom. As ever, there were flowers and cakes to welcome us. The owners, Amanda and Nigel, are always happy to see visitors and on hand if needed. There is a practical utility room with 2 washing machines, drier and freezer, adjacent to a bike storage area with a shower for washing dogs and boots. The cottage is warm from CH radiators but we lit a log fire most evenings, especially when we had snow one day! It's an easy walk across fields to Pooley Bridge to start the Ullswater Way walk or to catch the steamer. The 508 bus also passes nearby for journeys as far as Windermere and Penrith."
