"Really enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage. Good location for visiting Peak District attractions. Not far from anywhere. Spotlessly clean.Lovely kitchen. Furnished to a high standard. Modern bathroom with contemporary shower and fittings. Very efficient heating, much better than we have at home. There is parking next to the cottage. Parking is very tight for a medium sized car. I ended up parking in the hotel as it was less stressful and close to the cottage. A few observations that would improve the experience.1. A more comprehensive user manual listing nearest Dr,hospital, supermarket, garage, pharmacy etc would be useful. A guide to eating places/pubs with recommendations from visitors. Places of interest, walks and visitor attractions.2. A visitor feedback book.3. Under sink supplies were in short measure. No bin bags were provided apart from those already in bins. No foil, bleach or clingfilm supplied. A small amount of washing up liquid.None of the above significantly detracted from the experience but would have enhanced it.We would definitely recommend this cottage which is one of the best we have stayed at."

"Very comfortable for 2 people, but very cramped for 4. Took 10 minutes to find the double bedroom, an armchair sits in front of the door! To move the dining table out for 4 people requires blocking access to the twin room and the bathroom. The cleanliness in general was excellent but the underneath of various pots and pans had not been cleanedy previous users. Kitchen was well equipped with items not many people would use on holiday but we couldn't find any baking trays (to put pies, quiches on to heat). Only space for one person in the kitchen at any time. The worst thing of all was the constant noise from the flat above, we felt we were living underneath a herd of elephants! Having said all that, once we could move our luggage into the twin room (2 people were only staying 2 nights) it was much more comfortable and the owner was friendly and helpful. The view from the double bedroom was lovely, although people staying in the other properties drive or walk past the window so curtains need to be closed most of the time."

"We really enjoyed our stay in the Regency! It is a lovely period apartment on two levels, decorated to a high standard with a lot of care. All the bedding, kitchen equipment etc were of a much higher standard than we usually find in a holiday home. Because of this, we did a lot of cooking in the apartment - there was a Waitrose nearby. There were also plenty of good restaurants within a couple of minutes' walk - we would especially recommend the Thai restaurant. Buxton itself is an attractive market town. We spent a day exploring, and we went to the Opera House for a play one evening. We spent the other days further afield, visiting local caves, eating Bakewell pudding, seeing Chatsworth House etc. There are also a lot of good walking routes but the weather wasn't nice when we were there, so we'll save that for another time. When we arrived home, being in such a beautiful holiday home has inspired me to redecorate our own home soon! Thank you to Jane for such a great welcome and a lovely home for a week."

"Nice clean cosy cottage in a good location, very easy to reach National Trust, Mills and the Tram Museum as well as Matlock Bath and Matlock, nice walk uphill to the heights above Middleton with beautiful views with an information centre and cafe. Owners who lived next door were very friendly and helpful as were the other neighbours. Had a bit of a ride though to get provisions. Although back garden was as described it was difficult to access and we did not bother after the first day. The dog had to be taken a walk in local area but open area and small park very close to front of property. Big plus point was the Pub next door, parking is difficult for the cottage but okay for a small car. We were fortunate that the property adjacent was not in use and we were able to use their bay."

"Overall the cottage was just about okay. There were simple things that let it down.Positive-The cottage was in a good location for walking the manifold way up to Wetton hill and Thors cave. It was on the main road though and very noisy. It had character and the wood burner was good for warming the house up.The kitchen area was small but had good equipment. You would struggle to fit 4 people around table.Negative- overall cleanliness was really bad and comment book had many comments about this. The cushions on the sofa had lots of stains on them.Bedding was clean though.Main bed was uncomfortable and springs and electric blanket could be felt.Small tv which scratched our DVD and then wouldn't play others. The towels were too small.I wouldn't stay there again I'm afraid."
