"Please do not hesitate to book this cottage for your holiday. It was very clean on our arrival, very spacious and we were happy to stay there. The cottage is near to a supermarket and a few minutes further walk to other shops. Try the Millennium Walkway just up the road. If you have small dog then the garden/parking area is not secure, we had to keep our dog on his lead out there as he could have gone through the bottom of the gates. The cottage is on the main road but this did not matter as we were not disturbed by the traffic at all. We were a party of two adults and two children, one a teenager and one nearly a teenager. They loved the fact they had a lounge for themselves. Not clear from the description but the main bedroom has a shower and washbasin, this was a bonus, no toilet but not far to the main bathroom. The wet room downstairs had a toilet and washbasin, this room was large. Thanks to everyone for a great stay. Really recommend this cottage"

"The property itself was lovely, very spacious and in a good location for visiting the surrounding attractions. We did, however, have a few issues during our stay.1. The free view tv box in the sitting room was old, did not work and had exposed wires which could have electrocuted somebody. We replaced it and were told by the owner they would repay us but this has not happened.2. The fifth bedroom had two very small beds (probably only suitable for under 10s), it had no storage facility, very poor mattresses and duvets which were grubby.3. The general cleanliness was sub-standard (stains on cushions and floors, finger prints on tv and windows, fridge not clean etc).4. About 30% of the light bulbs either did not work or were missing.Money should be reinvested to bring the property up to the level expected for the star rating it has and the amount charged to stay in it. It needs a thorough clean."

"We spent a week in this lovely cottage and couldn't have wished for a more comfortable stay. The cottage has been thoughtfully modernised and has very good quality fittings and furnishings. There were lots of little extras which really did make it a home from home. The location was ideal with The Navigation Pub at the bottom of the lane at Buxworth Canal Basin. We enjoyed walks into Chinley along the Tram Way and to Whaley Bridge along the canal. It was a lovely base to return back to after exploring the surrounding Peak District and Derbyshire Dales. There were lots of suggestions for days out and places to visit in the guest book and we can understand why there were many repeat bookings. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and thank the owners for their welcoming bottle of wine and loan of their cottage."

"This is a very nice house - well decorated and equipped and spotlessly clean. It is comfortable, characterful and easy to live in. The neighbours are nice and friendly and the owner was most helpful and obliging. The only slight drawback is the road that the cottage fronts on to, but it is only really busy during rush hour and the double-glazing cuts out most of the noise. Parking is easy and there is a nice safe courtyard at the back. The location is good, with a supermarket near by and plenty of interesting short (and long) local walks. New Mills isn't the prettiest place, but it is very interesting and historic and well-situated for the Peak District, Cheshire plain and with good transport links into Stockport, Manchester and further afield.I would like to stay again and would recommend it."

"Location gets 9 as it it very well placed for visiting the Peak District and has a great pub next door which serves outstanding food at very reasonable prices. Slight downside is it is right on the roadside and outside space is limited. Not a great place for children but fine for grown ups.Comfort and equipment gets nine as well, it was the best equipped kitchen I have experienced in such a place apart from a shortage of side plates. We never ran out of mugs or cutlery even when there were four of us in the house.I liked that there were two double beds rather than one and then twin beds. In a house more suitable for adults this is a plus."
