"We were fairly disappointed with our holiday here. There were several points we found were not pleasant about our stay, these being: •Not much privacy, and cameras right above hot tub, not to mention a window looking down and a gate from propert next door joined onto our garden.•When we arrived there was dirty cleaning cloths left all on the table •When we arrived the toilet seat was broken and on the floor!!•The ‘spa bath’ was not working at all, which wasn’t mentioned. •There was a Range Rover parked smack bang in front of our kitchen window, people out there having discussions in front of the window regularly and we felt we had no privacy. There was also other cars in the driveway preventing us getting in and out without having to drive into the grass•The man who came to maintain the hot tub came up, didn’t explain what he was doing or say hello, threw his tools around and then left, we didnt like this. •Mould and damp on the front room walls, cleverly covered by a wardrobe! Not that clever as it didn’t take us long to see it, we have photos taken if need to see. •No rubber matting outside the hot tub, the steps and floor was very slippery as there were wet leaves everywhere, I slipped twice luckily I wasn’t injured •On arrival, a dog wandered in and out, we had no who idea who’s it was, but wasn’t comfortable with this. All in all, it was a lovely cottage and we had some good points to make, we enjoyed the hot tub, the kitchen was lovely, comfy bed and very quiet just a shame it wasn’t private at all, and they didn’t seem to be mindful at all that people were paying to stay there for a holiday, and quite a lot of money too."

"More attention to detail is needed when cleaning, particularly in the storage area in loft bedroom and the loft bathroom. Bed linen has seen better days. Some kitchen utensils sticky and baking trays definitely seen better days. Table mats sticky and dirty. The grass needed cutting which made it unpleasant to sit in the garden. No welcome pack so beware if you are arriving late. Stairs are very steep and there is no toilet on ground floor. Steps into front door very steep although it is easier to go in the back door. Designated car parking space was apparently repaired on our last day however there is still a dip on driving into it and there are lots of pot holes. You either have to reverse in or out and along a long narrow road. You cannot see the car from the cottage. There is parking on the road however which is a safer bet.Good information packs available about surrounding areas with places to visit, walks, etc.Good base to visit this beautiful part of the country if the cleaning issues are dealt with, in a lovely little village with lots of local amenities and lovely walks."

"Peep O Day is a modern, well appointed, spacious and clean holiday let.Pretty much everything you need for your stay is catered for – from kitchenware to games and books (if the weather's bad). It comfortably sleeps six (4 up and 2 down) in comfortable beds, although the large size of the upstairs bedroom could have warrented maybe a kingsize bed. The underfloor heating makes the barn cosy at all times and all rooms feel light and airy. The location is pretty good and within 30-40 mins drive of most of the Peak District attractions. There are some great walks, cycle trails (and views) just outside the front door, although the nearby road can get busy and the noise was noticable for us in the 1st floor bedroom. Some good local facilities such as 'The Chippy at Chinley' and 'Tea on The Green' also in Chinley and the 'George Hotel' at Hayfield for a local pint and good, honest food. All in all, Peep O Day is a very good, relaxing place to spend some time in the Peak District."

"Came here for an anniversary get away, it was the perfect hideaway! When we checked in a member of staff came to show us how to use the hot tub we asked a few questions about the surroundings she was helpful naming a few shops. But apart from that we wasn't bothered again. Only down points was having to get out the tub at 10pm and the woman that lives next door when she has visitors (which was everday) 2 cars plus hers and mine it makes it very difficult to get off the drive. There is a dirt track to get to the lodge so small cars beware. Shops were a short walk away and a small pub at the end of the hill offered nice food at a reasonable price. The cottage itself is perfect and the bed is so comfortable and I ended up falling to sleep on the sofa everyday (which I never usually do) If you are looking for a romantic peaceful getaway I could not recommend the old cottage more and I have recommended to all my family and friends. Will defiantly look at returning."

"My family and I had a lovely time wandering around the peaks next to Ellers bank cottage. The cottage was very well equipped and we had a very nice fire in the wood burner on the last day as the weather became cooler. (we brought our own logs and kindling with us to continue the fire as there is a starter set only) We took our dog, a small Springer, with us. I made sure she was always cleaned off before she entered the living room after having been out. There were a lot of steep stairs so I would not recommend anyone to stay in this cottage if they have issues with mobility. Also in the small garden area, it is a tiny yard which is accessible to other households and there are steps leading up to a small grass area with a table. All in all, we had a few wonderful days staying at this cottage, it was quirky and just in the right place for many walks to the peaks, only a few minutes walk to the town of hayfield, pubs and local shops to buy provisions from."
