"as much as a Chateau this elegant can feel like home, anyway... since it's really something beyond any experience you've probably ever had. I honestly can't count the number of times I've been here with colleagues for work, replete with grand dinners in the dining room/ballroom... meetings in the Orangerie, the Library, and the salon... and lots of late nights around the pool table or playing music by the fire. So, sure, I'm not unbiased. But it's still safe to say, it is the perfect place for a writing retreat or any other relaxing but productive work event. We've also gone there as a family, with our two young children who love flying kites on the big grounds, taking walks past the stables, and skipping stones on the picturesque moat and leftover bread to the ducks. On at least three occasions, we took over the whole chateau for a New Year's Eve getaway with friends. The good-sized kitchen is exactly the right size for either big events or just a few families to manage, with lots of nice dishes, wine glasses, etc. to use, plus the double ovens and a microwave. The bedrooms are all decked out in appropriate French decor, comfortable beds, and modern en suite bathrooms that -- in case you're wondering -- have hearty showers and hot water that doesn't quit when someone turns on a sink somewhere else in the chateau. The wifi has good reach too, throughout most of the chateau. It's remote enough that you can relax... with relatively quiet roads, if you want to go for a walk or a run... but there's a small Normandy town literally around the corner, with a surprisingly good supply of culinary delights. I've heard it's not so far from the D-Day beaches too (an hour or so) but, honestly, we've never had the chance to get up there. Sometimes, it's just as good to sit out by the fire pit with wine and friends, under the Normandy stars... or go for an early walk, just as the sunlight hits the morning mist in the field out front. It's true, there are many other Chateaus, spread around France and even the region. And we've looked into staying in some of those too. But there's something about Chateau des Roses that makes it feel both elegant and warm at the same time... impressive as any grand estate, but also a lot like a grand home."

"Fifteen friends shared this magnificent home while attending the World Equestrian Games in Caen. My commitment is to return to fully enjoy this Chateau without the distraction of dressage. The photos and information provided are all very accurate. Arnaud the owner was very available and helpful to deal with during the booking and provided excellent information regarding the locale and guides (for a DDay tour). The residence itself is jaw-dropping. Once the front gates open you immediately realise that you've made an excellent choice. The housekeeper Francoise was a smiling face there to welcome you. There are ample areas for entertaining, both inside and out and a spectacular dining room. All the bedrooms are ensuited and very comfortable. Several are imposing to say the least. A couple of the bedrooms are relatively small (relative to the size of the chateau rather than the size of a typical European hotel room), but the communal areas are so numerous that it was very easy to find a quiet place to relax. The pool was well heated and the bikes were well used for morning rides to the local village. The grounds were exceptional - a twilight wander over the grass or through the trees with a glass in hand was a fantastic way to end the day. The kitchen was well equipped; however thankfully we didn't really need to avail ourselves of this because of the wonderful Gwenaelle, the cook. After the week we were working on ways of taking Gwenaelle with us! After a day touring or at the dressage, to arrive 'home' at 7pm and have Gwenaelle preparing a wonderful repast in the kitchen was for many of us a highlight. Excellent food that we were more than happy to consume every night. I will certainly be returning, probably next time with my extended family. Whilst this fabulous chateau is full of history and antiques, it is so very livable and felt very much like a home for all of us. For someone who travels frequently and widely, this was on of the best week's holiday I've had. And largely made that way because of the Chateau and it's staff."

"A handful of close friends and I spent the most enjoyable and relaxing week at Chateau de Cource, a thoroughly charming and idyllic 17th century chateau located in the gorgeous Normandy countryside. Prepare to be transported to another time entirely; it did not take us long to appreciate the chateau's unique qualities and also its idiosyncrasies. If you are looking for a property with 5* amenities across the board, specifically perfectly updated bathrooms and kitchens, this may not meet your expectations. However, the opportunity to experience an historic, centuries owned, "grand family home" is special indeed. All of the rooms are elegant and ooze character and the pool, gardens, tennis court and moat (complete with 2 swans!) are like icing on the cake. The owner, Jean, could not have been more gracious, accessible and warm. He drove from Paris to meet us on arrival, gave us a thorough tour of the home and property and made sure we felt welcomed and comfortable. Jean checked in with us regularly (his english is excellent!) and was very pleased to answer any questions and make recommendations for local restaurants, markets and sightseeing excursions, all of which made the trip feel authentically french. A lovely housekeeper/cook is available to provide as much support as you desire --- she is an excellent cook and extremely pleasant. After long days of walking the coastline, exploring nearby towns, making the trip to Mount St. Michel and the D-Day Beaches, it was wonderful to return to delicious home cooked meals. We were sad when our week came to its end and we all have such fond memories of our time at Chateau de Cource!"

"This was my first stay at the chateau and was unsure what to expect. After arriving by car at the chateau, the immediate charm and elegance of the setting was my first impression. The gravel driveway allows you to see the working aspects of the chateau as you approach the grand house which has a moat-like water body on two sides....... The front of the chateau is exactly like the photos on the website.....majestic and stately.... Upon entering the chateau, one is struck by its understated and classic style thanks to the owners' sense of continental interior design. Every room is beautifully appointed and comfortable. The bedrooms were clean and very spacious. The bathrooms were large and nicely furnished with a tub/shower. Since we were at the chateau as part of a small business team retreat, our meals were served in the very nice dining room buffet or family style. All of the dishes were superbly prepared by Agnes, a school trained chef from Paris and recent join to Team Chateau des Roses. near the end of the week long stay, Agnes offered a cooking class to our team. A real bonus! Finally, I must recognize Aude, the Chateau GM, who was always pleasant, helpful, and effective. She ensured everything was properly coordinated and "happened as planned" during our group's stay. Her mastery of English due to her academic studies in the States was a real benefit. In closing, the stay at Chateau des Roses was a remarkable experience and highly recommended for either a family or small business group gathering if you want to get away from the maddening crowd and experience a little of rural Normandy!"

"This chateau is just a dream come true. The photos look nice but it is even more impressive in reality. We were lucky to find an available week and the booking process was very easy. Jean is just wonderful. He came from Paris to greet us on our arrival and explained everything and even introduced us to the local fishmonger. The property is very well kept- the house and the gardens are always perfect. There are some gardener looking after the wonderful gardens and the Madame, who is looking after the Chateau is also a great cook. We, a group of friends with children, spent lovely hours at the pool and in the gardens and we all felt like little prince and princess. In the evening we enjoyed the delicious dinners, which were prepared for us and the evening ended with a digestive in one of the living rooms. All rooms are furnished with precious antiques and all bathrooms are equipped with high class facilities. Also the kitchen was a dream: Very atmospheric but with first class equipment. The beach is near by and there are a lot of things to explore in the area. We will definitely come back! We all felt so lucky to be able to stay in such a wonderful place and also felt very welcome and taken care of. I must admit, that absolutely all expectations were exceeded a lot. Chateau de Cource is definitely the greatest place I have stayed at."
