"The cottage was excellent. It was just a shame that the weather didn’t match it this week. The cottage was exceptionally clean on arrival plus the touch of chocolates and wine were lovely. Due to the bad weather, we were forced to use the car to get to all local amenities. Harbour Bay beach was a lovely beach for the family; it was 1.1 miles if you walked from the cottage using the roadside. Only 3/4 mile if you used the field behind the children’s playground. This way was virtually impossible with two young children and a baby in a pushchair due to rain-soddened ground. As a result of the bad weather, we did spend a number of days in the cottage enjoying our pleasant surroundings. The living room is a good size for the family; there is an additional smaller room, also containing a decent-sized tv, should you want to watch something different. The pool room was amazing. My son and I enjoyed many games throughout the week. This room adds a wow factor to the house. The kitchen diner was great for us and we really enjoyed sitting looking out of the large window each morning. Our 1-year-old daughter mastered the small step connecting the two and enjoyed going between the two. My wife had only 2 minor points to mention: a dust pan and brush would have been useful to tidy up and stair gate was incorrectly fitted on the bottom step to the upstairs. It could easily be opened with a little amount of force; we couldn't adjust it as we didn’t have the special spanner that adjusted it. Nevertheless, the Wayside was a great cottage. My 7-year-old son gave it 10/10."

"Apart from being welcomed by the next door people who left their car door open (deliberately?) making it difficult for us to get down the drive and unpack the stay at Wayside was excellent.Very well presented accommodation, clean and very comfortable. The village of Beadnell and the seaside walks were perfect for anyone needing fresh air and some refreshment.Location is just right for looking at places north and places south. Lewis's Fish and Chips at Seahouses, the faded beauty of Berwick upon Tweed, the wonderful Howick Hall and gardens, Craster and seafood at The Jolly Fisherman made this an excellent week.Look for the Smokehouse in the old town of Seahouses. Have a choice of a large number of teas at Bari's in Alnwick.Mainly, there was no rain to spoil the trips out.Maybe some wooden chopping boards and saucepans would be a helpful addition to the kitchen, the glass chopping boards only blunt knives and if anyone wants to cook a couple of saucepans would be ideal. We did search the local charity shops for an additional teapot, the one and only teapot in the cupboard did not hold enough for two people.Thank you to the Wayside for our relaxing week."

"Our 3rd year staying here and yet again it’s been absolutely perfect.Love the new decor and kitchen. Even found a slow cooker so I won’t have to bring my own next time! This place has EVERYTHING!The owners are really friendly and very professional. Anything you need, they will sort it ASAP. We love the complimentary hamper on arrival. It’s a really lovely touch.Everything you need is in walking distance. The Craster Arms is a family/dog friendly pub that does fantastic food and is a 2min walk away. It has a lovely beer garden as well.We love the children’s park opposite the WI hut. It keeps the little ones entertained for hours and has a really nice atmosphere to it.The beach and harbour is just 5/10mins walk and you can spend the whole day there. We like to walk to seahouses along the beach. It only takes 20/30mins. We simply can’t fault this cottage! Ammeneties and location are absolutely spot on! Made so many amazing memories here already and there will be many more made in years to come.Thank you so much Blue Caps. Perfect."

"Great converted barn 20 minutes from Alnwick. Generally clean and tidy, comfy bed.The property is very rural, whilst everything is about a 20 minute drive away, it does mean a very quiet, restful location.Attention to detail is the biggest drawback of this cottage: dead flies on windowsills and only two tea bags. On the plus side, very clean linen, towels and a bottle of red wine on arrival.TV is a little on the small side for the space, but we were there to explore the area anyway, so not a problem for us. This property should not have been advertised with WiFi. We struggled to get any connection as it shares a BT Hub with an adjoining property and constantly kept dropping. Given the rural location we also struggled to get any 3/4G. So prepare to be off grid.Overall, a lovely little property, clean to an acceptable level and well positioned to explore a broad area. Particularly good if you want some time away with no internet access."

"- Points cooker very dirty, two pairs of dirty and smelly socks by radiator, huge cobweb in window light with as may as 20 to 30 dead wasps in webdid clean ourself, no WiFi code little other cottage notes, but mainly heating not working. Cottage owner contacted didn’t seem to believe problems but did immediately arrange local agent to pop around.+ Agent got WiFi code from cottage next door, primed boiler pressure and got heating in adjoining cottage working but controls in Megs cottage not working so no heating except for free standing electric radiators. Eventually moved to one of the agents cottages at Belford clean but not ideal for a person with walking difficulties as bedroom upstairs. Would I stay there again if property was cleaned and maintained properly then yes as it’s in a great location."
