"Very conveniently in Newton Abbot, Elm cottage provided a great base to explore south Devon.Supermarkets and high street very close-by as well.House had everything we needed at an adequate level and the dishwasher, washing machine and Wifi were very much appreciated. The kids loved the availability of Netflix.Good space inside the house but very steep stairs and dodgy step on stairs landing took a bit of getting used to. Dubious privacy as well as you can see straight through the glass front door into the living room at night. The house had terrible on-street parking though and we were unable to park outside the cottage the entire week we stayed due to oversubscription of the very limited on street parking available. Had to play musical chairs with the parking in the local area in the evening and early morning every day. We got used to this though once we found a regular routine to it.Special mention must go to the owner of the cottage who was brilliantly accommodating throughout; always quick to respond to anything we needed.Overall the pros outweigh the cons and Elm cottage is well worth looking into."

"A beautiful cottage with plenty of space for everyone. The gardens were a delight with loads of seating in sunny spots. The house was clean, well equipped, and had the most comfortable beds of any house we have ever stayed in. The only disappointment was that although it was advertised as pets welcome when we arrived there was a note to say dogs are ONLY allowed in the kitchen and utility rooms, we felt it was very unfair to only mention this on arrival, We expected that dogs are not allowed upstairs but expected our well behaved dog to be allowed in all downstairs rooms to relax with us. We may have chosen a different cottage had we known in advance of booking. That said the owner was very helpful when we had an issue with WIFI. It was sorted out quickly and she sent us a text to ensure it was resolved, so thank you for that and also for the lovely welcome hamper . We would recommend the house to anyone as long as the pet policy isn’t an issue, it is a wonderful house in an ideal location with delightful gardens."

"We were not happy with the rather long list of things that our dog could not do, some of which we understand (no dogs on furniture) but others were ridiculous (Not allowed to wee in the garden) If this list had been shown at the time of booking we would not have booked to stay here. The owners need to be more transparent and show this list of ‘rules’ on their booking page. We won’t be returning. We had to pay £30 extra to take our dog then spent the whole week worrying about him doing something on the list. I would suggest they don’t advertise that pets are allowed. The pet bed they provided which was only to be used in the tiny barely ventilated utility room was unfortunately very dirty. The cottage itself was really lovely, clean and very well equipped, just not pet friendly and therefore should not be advertised as such."

"We spent a lovely week in Devon with our children's families. Ten of us children aged 0-4. Haven House is situated in a very convenient location for touring South Devon. It is a good size house with a couple of bathrooms with very efficient showers. There is a super washing machine and tumble dryer which were put to good use. It is advertised as toddler/ children friendly and you should check if there is a stair gate if needed ( it seems it was damaged just before we arrived with no replacement).the gas BBQ was not operational and the cleaning company let down the owner with a moderate clean without moving furniture...toddlers get behind sofas! We had a great holiday!"

"Haven house is a lovely, large; warm house that easily accommodates 8 adults. It is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding seaside resorts and countryside. We had an extremely relaxing week and were very fortunate with the weather which made it even better as we were able to make use of the garden too. Slightly disappointed by the dated technology, wobbly television, very hit and miss with the freeview channels that were available, no remote controls and the information book needs updating as there was no sky box or garden bar-b-que as suggested."
