"This lodge isn't really large enough for six people. The bunk room is barely large enough to get the bunk in. The living area was only just adequate for six people to be in. The provision of crockery, cutlery and glasses wasn't sufficient for six people - most people have more than one drink and one meal in a day, so exactly six large plates and six glasses isn't enough. Cooking equipment seemed a bit random and missing items such as baking trays too.The lodge is very close to other lodges and the fencing between the lodges is quite "industrial" in nature. We were fortunate in that most of the other lodges weren't occupied for most of the week but it was inevitably quite noisy when they were, and also meant we were conscious of not disturbing other guests. The pool was good, but it seemed a bit early to close it at 7pm (why so early?) and the rules for its use are quite restrictive. The games room was too hot to enjoy although was well equipped. Most disappointing was the wifi/internet provision. Whilst we accept that rural internet speeds can be low, the internet access was so slow as to be unusable. This would be bad enough, but to be charged an additional £20 for the privilege seems like rubbing salt into the wound. Not unreasonably, we expected that the £20 charge was to enable a decent connection to be provided. I'd recommend future guests not to use the provided wifi but to bring their own 4G wireless access point instead."

"Virginia Cottage is all that you could ask for in a cosy well appointed place for a real break. Easily managed, it has everything you could wish for, as a couple or single person for your stay. The cottage is spotlessly clean and the welcome gifts were a lovely touch. Although an excellent level of privacy it gives a feeling of security and being part of a small community of like minded visitors. Annie and her family are welcoming and concerned that everything is done to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The location is quiet and relaxing, close to Bovey Tracey, a lovely small town where you can find really interesting local shops. A perfect place to stay for travelling around this part of Devon, the moors, the coast, lovely towns and beauty spots, and National Trust properties to discover. Thank you Annie, it was a lovely break."

"We were not happy with the rather long list of things that our dog could not do, some of which we understand (no dogs on furniture) but others were ridiculous (Not allowed to wee in the garden) If this list had been shown at the time of booking we would not have booked to stay here. The owners need to be more transparent and show this list of ‘rules’ on their booking page. We won’t be returning. We had to pay £30 extra to take our dog then spent the whole week worrying about him doing something on the list. I would suggest they don’t advertise that pets are allowed. The pet bed they provided which was only to be used in the tiny barely ventilated utility room was unfortunately very dirty. The cottage itself was really lovely, clean and very well equipped, just not pet friendly and therefore should not be advertised as such."

"Had an amazing few days here! We were actually upgraded to their Wisteria cottage, due to the previous visitors wanting to stay on for longer (another good sign of a great place to stay!). The place was gorgeously decorated, very comfortable, very clean. There were lots of nice touches to make our stay more comfortable for example, a selection of books, DVD's and games. The bed was so comfortable we didn't want to leave it! It's in a great location, just down the road from the town so easy to nip to the shops after a 5 minute car journey. In the town there are some lovely places to eat. The grounds themselves are quiet and well kept. Anne and Andy were both very welcoming and made us feel at home. Would definitely recommend these cottages and will rebook if I am down that end of the country again. Thank you!"

"We've stayed at Little Dunley before and loved it! I would recommend you phone a few days before you are due to arrive, rather than leaving it until the day before, as we did - despite trying numerous times we couldn't get hold of anyone and the only way of getting into the cottage was to guess the code to the key safe! Unfortunately, we had a problem with flies when we arrived but after a phone call to the owner (whose mobile number was in the info pack inside the cottage!), it was sorted very quickly by the caretaker. As before, the children LOVED the very well kept swimming pool and games room (and the nearby House of Marbles!), and really enjoyed using the tennis court. We hope to be back, but would probably choose to stay in Oaktree Cottage instead, if possible."
