"The house is beautiful and well equipped to entertain a large group. The only comments we would make are in respect of the internet, which didnt work and wasn't fixed until half way through our break; this did impact our stay as we struggled with the kids who couldn't watch their ipads, it also meant I was unable to work as planned and meant we couldn't watch the movies we wanted during the evenings. We had great use of the games room, although the dart board/darts has a lot of wear and could do with updating but having a house with a pool was amazing and we enjoyed using it every day; it was beautifully warm and a great size.I have to admit we thought the games/cinema/tv areas were all separate rooms from the photos on the website but in fact they are just areas within the same living space which have been sectioned off. Having the kids games area in the living space area is nice, but the cinema room in an open space beside the tv room meant it was tough to hear them when they were both on. The sky box can only be viewed on one screen at a time, so you cant watch different sky channels plus the sky box is over on the cinema side, so you had to be over that side to control it.The negative comments are only due to expectations as the house appears quite premium and is expensive. But the facilities are lovely, and it's close to the town. It's well equipped with towels and pillows and little extras like colouring pencils for the kids. Lots of fridge and kitchen cupboard space. Also, they responded quickly to our complaints regarding the internet, the delay getting it sorted was due to the IT companies technical teams delay due to opening days and troubleshooting time."

"We visited in July 2019. A group of 11. Overall we had a great time, but it was more the company than the cottage itself. Thought it was not value for money.Whilst the cottage had a swimming pool and games room the standard was not as expected. It was dark and dingy and they owners have clearly tried to incorporate too much in a small space. Games Room - was in a very cold and dusty garage. Swimming pool - nice but quite small and disappointing.Kids Room and Bedroom on Ground floor- very very small and claustrophobic. Hardly any rooms to move or store stuff. Not to mention dark!!Kitchen, Diner, TV area and Cinema room all on the ground floor squeezed in a very small area. A large group of us on a family holiday could not sit together as a group for a meal! Cinema Room is basically a projector stuck in front of the patio door, which is fixed, meaning it blocked all the day light. Also access to the third bathroom was via the cinema room.Upstairs Master Bedroom is the most bizarre and random thing we have seen. You had a jacuzzi in a corner, a long passage with a toilet around fixed wardrobes. The other double bedroom seemed ok. The third bedroom was mostly under a slope, which meant that we struggled to reach our suitcases, which we had to use for storage as the wardrobe they provided was pathetic which made more noise than store items. The kitchen roasting trays were disgusting and greasy. Overall the owners have tried to squeeze in rooms and entertainment space to generate more income. They really need to reduce the number of guests and make the area open plan."

"I would recommend the Manor House with caution for anyone considering this for more than 10 adults. We arrived at the The Manor House and were amazed by is character, cleanliness and how well equipped it was and it’s beautiful surroundings. It felt the most private of the properties available on the site at Harthill Hall. However, we became disappointed as a group of six couples when the sleeping and bathroom arrangements didn’t quite meet with what we believed we had booked. Having spent a great deal of time looking for an appropriate property for a large group of adults to celebrate special birthdays, based on what we now, the descriptions provided of the bedrooms bathrooms and the capacity of the facilities, on both the company we booked through and the cottage owners websites they are misleading at best. The Manor House is described as suitable for 14 adults, there are only 5 double rooms with the 6 room being a triple room with 3 single beds (whilst the picture shows a double bed in this room). Two of the beds felt like camp beds at best and only really suitable for children. The six bathroom is also a shower room off the kitchen with a door that doesn’t remain closed making it difficult to use. This is reflected in our comfort and equipment rating.Overall we made the best of the weekend in lovely surroundings but it was tinged with disappointment and this property didn’t feel like it provided value for money for the reasons mentioned above."

"If you want ancient & quirky this is the place to stay, the house is huge with great atmosphere & easy to get lost in the kids loved it, great for hide & seek & Nerf gun fights ! We loved the pool & the hot tub, but it’s a shame it only fits 4. It was snowing when we were there but warm & cosy inside apart from the kitchen, which is huge ( the table seats 14 comfortably) so we lit fires in the kitchen & the lounge & were very cosy. If you go in winter take slippers, the stone flagged floors are freezing, a torch, the electricity went off 3 times when we were there, towels for the pool, the pieces of acrylic cloth provided were horrible to use & didn’t do the job & fire lighters. Wood isn’t provided but the farm at the end of the entrance on the left as you go out, sells it. We had a fantastic holiday there an experience to remember. Top tips – allocate the bedrooms & don’t let the kids choose as the room with the upstairs beds isn’t very adult friendly ! Order a food delivery from the Co-op it's free if you spend over £25. There's no welcome pack when you arrive apart from for the dogs, they got chews & poo bags. We had an Indian from the Shalimar but it wasn't very good - very oily There's lots of beautiful walks, I did my 1K steps every day ! Enjoy."

"A large and somewhat rambling cottage, having been extended/combined with another. This results in the living room being a little small, eg with only 4 comfortable seats to watch TV together, in a cottage marketed for 6 people. Fortunately not a problem for us, but others should consider it carefully. We found it generally fine, as there are several large tables, ideal for laying out the board games that like to play and which often last several days!Comfort was generally good, with everything provided that we could want. Small issues included a blunt bread knife (making loaves crumble but not slice well); very hot bedrooms, made worse by difficulty in opening the small windows (we unfortunately suffered a severe heatwave while there); and a bath which splashed a lot while filling (tending to make puddles on the floor)."
