What our customers are saying about our Summer Holiday Cottages In Middleton By Wirksworth To Rent.

- Mr Hagger, July 2018 - verified booking

"As I have already told you , the first two people I corresponded with at Sykes failed to read my preferred requirements and so offered me unsuitable properties which was frustrating and a waste of time for everyone. The description doesn't make plain that this property is very close to the main road used by buses and lorries and does not have secondary i.e. noise reducing, glazing. It is also somewhat disingenuous not to mention that the 'patio' at the front is shared with the dustbins and looks across the road to the gable end of the house opposite which backs onto the pavement. I think it unlikely that anyone would want to sit here. It also fails to make clear that there is NO GARDEN. You cannot, in fact, park outside the cottage as the road is too narrow at this point to allow large vehicles to pass. The interior is well decorated, well designed and spotlessly clean. I wonder whether it will be warm enough at Spring and Autumn when lighting the stove would be too much. Some evenings it got a bit chilly in the lounge and we had to put on coats to watch the TV as the radiators didn't seem to work. The owners left some thoughtful provisions , which was a nice suprise. This cottage would be ok in winter when it's cosyness would be appreciated, best suited to people whose home is on a busy road. The agent was helpful with problems."

"This was an exceptionally comfortable and lovely cottage. It's warm and comfortable and very well equipped, with some lovely mid century ceramics. The selection of local history and guide books is the best I've ever seen in a cottage. There are many lovely walks straight from the door. Middleton is beautiful and a very peaceful location if you want to get away from it all. Downstairs is beautiful and very well thought out. The front bedroom is also very good. If you like GPlan you'll be in actual heaven. It is slightly let down by the double bedroom at the back, the kids certainly got the better deal in terms of space and comfort and the view. The back bedroom did smell a bit damp and the window was stuck and we didn't want to force it open for fear of breaking it. My main discontent though was there were no bedside lights and no bedside table. I knew from the pictures that it was a small room and there were wardrobes either side of the bed but in practice it is a real pain not to have somewhere to put a cup of tea. The pictures did show reading lights on the wardrobes but there weren't actually any there, this should be sorted. I think it would also be worth considering swapping one of the wardrobes for a bedside table."

"Just returned home from a 3 night stay at Rose Cottage, what an amazing little gem this cottage is, the owners have thought of everything you need and much more, it’s a cosy home from home. The walk down the river into the next village of Youlgrave is magical and with the choice of pubs in the village is a great pit stop before the returning walk back to cottage. The owners have thought of everything from games, DVDs to plenty of books to keep you busy, my hubby throughly enjoyed reading the book about the history of Middleton well worth reading as it gives you a good insight into the village, and we enjoyed spotting the different buildings as we walked through the village. I loved watching the birds on the feeders outside the window. The cottage has everything you need for a great stay in the Peak District, and is not far from Bakewell. The under floor heating is amazing. I would definitely recommend this cottage and we will definitely return in the future, the homemade flapjacks left as a welcome are delicious and went down a treat. The owners of this property have got it just right, and thought of everything, we’ve had a great time and we hope to be back soon."
