"We know the owners only took over this property when they bought the main house recently & we know that it's a new property to you & so things need to be looked into. As you know we arrived in the dark & we had no directions as to which cottage it was nor where to find the key box (which turned out to be on a different building!). There we were stuck in the dark with the owners away & so we rang the emergency number but no reply so we had to leave a message. In the end my husband went to a neighbour's house & luckily they knew which cottage it was & where the key box was located. They rang the owners & spoke to them about our difficulties - the owners didn't want to speak to my husband. From our arrival in the vicinity to getting into the cottage took about an hour and a half. The cleaner, who was the emergency number rang back after we'd finally got in. Once we got into the cottage there was no heating on (& it's January!) but once we got it on it warmed up quite quickly. It was only the next morning that we discovered that the hot water wasn't on either! When the cleaner called in to see if everything was all right she said she knew that the hot water wasn't on - I'm not sure why, as she lives locally, she wasn't asked by the owners to put the heating & water on in advance. Another couple of things: because the old granary door doesn't shut across the glass panel door (which looks straight into the kitchen) the property has very little privacy; loose gravel from the parking area is walked in constantly though I'm not sure what can be done about that. One more thing - the bed needs a new mattress! It's very worn out & has no spring in it."

"The bungalow was not clean when we arrived and looked as though it had not been thoroughly cleaned for some time. Quilt on double bed was not big enough to make sleeping comfortable and warm; quality of bedding very worn. Shower in bathroom outdated; shower head far too high& not adjustable; when shower was running in bathroom temperature could be dangerously hot if someone turned on tap at wash hand basin. Toilet seat not secure so using toilet was uncomfortable. No hand rail to assist in getting in/out of bath. No plug for electric razor. No shelf for toiletries. No light above bathroom mirror. Kitchen short of condiments ie. salt, pepper, vinegar - if you arrive late and want to cook a meal, if would be helpful to have those to use. No where to hang dresses or trousers as all cupboard loaded at bottom with spare bed clothes. Neither bedside lamps worked in the main bedroom - one needed a new bulb and the other just wouldn't work. Good idea to say torches in cupboard that we could use - but batteries dead. Looks good leaving a bottle of wine, but better spend money on a washing up liquid and a decent dishcloth - certainly we would have appreciated that far more. Will stop here, but most or the reasons that we would not return. Suffolk as a county is lovely, though."

"A very pleasant place to stay in a quiet village with a traditional pub close by. The pub served good food (albeit a limited menu) and had a welcoming atmosphere. A good village shop and a 'gourmet' pub are a few minutes walk. A useful base for visiting Sussex and Essex. The owners were exceptionally friendly and invited us to use their garden table and another table situated under the old tree in the vineyard, which was charming on a mild evening. The granary was let down slightly by the lack of a wall cupboard in the kitchen and no drawers, etc for storage in the bedroom. A 'spring clean' behind some of the furniture would do no harm! However, the bed was very comfortable and the bed linen and towels were of high quality. We would stay again and have no hesitation in recommending this property."

"The old cow shed is set in a lovely Suffolk village and is an ideal base to explore by foot or car. It has everything you need inside for a short break. The owners are lovely and are close by if required but give you the privacy to enjoy your break. The setting is just perfect for dog walking. We were out walking on the fens at sunrise each morning which is such a nice setting. The bed is comfortable and you can park right next to the accomodation which is very convenient. The local cider, biscuits, milk and sweets etc that were left for us was a very nice touch. Highly recommended for a Suffolk break to relax and get away from busy city life. Chill in the countryside. Less than an hour from the beach too."

"Nice place to stay and owners left dog treats, cider and milk which was nice. However, I would recommend they change their cleaning company as it's acceptable to have cobwebs & dust in high to reach areas but TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE to have the amount seen under the bedside table when I dropped an earring (cobwebs & dust like that take sometime to build up!!) and under the sofa - seen when I was doing yoga. Apart from that, the barn was cosy and comfortable and in a nice location with lots of nice walks for dogs. The local pub is definitely worth a visit - very friendly & extremely delicious food."
