"If you are looking for a bit more comfort than camping, but don't want the lack of independence of a B&B or hotel, and still want some rustic charm, then this accommodation could be for you. There are 2 sweet little timber framed chalets, identical inside and next to each other. You have all the basic amenities you could require, although there is no actual oven, only a small counter top halogen oven, no freezer, and the heating is calor gas. The owners are highly into eco / waste reduction / recycling, and have the appropriate necessary means for garbage disposal. The double bed is extremely comfortable, and we were appreciative of the electric blanket needed throughout our week's stay mid April 2019. However, being right against the wall, it was a little awkward trying to get out from that side during the night. The calor gas heater did a good job of warming up the cabin, although, being as cold as it was, it was necessary to rise early from bed to light it and direct it towards the bathroom. There are plenty of windows allowing beautiful views from 3 sides of the cabin, and chairs outside for you to relax in on your separate patio in the large garden, with the sounds of sheep and birds to accompany your relaxation. Bed linen, towels, tea towels, toilet and shower were all very clean. Gas, electric, heating, wi-fi (pretty decent coverage too) are all included in the price. Mobile phone reception is unlikely to be available, but the whole point of coming somewhere like this is to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and it hits the nail on the head completely in this respect. In order to get to the nearest large town of Newtown, you travel along some very winding roads, up and down the hills, past farms, across open heathland with spectacular scenery. The location is ideal for access across all of mid-Wales. Peter and Marion are eager to accommodate their guests and enjoy a chat and imparting information about the wonderful places to visit in the area. Excellent value for money."

"This is a charming cottage with a lovely secluded location and great secure garden for our dog. It's perfectly located for walking in the Shropshire Hills and served as an excellent base for our trip. We didn't mind the absence of electricity and running water in the cottage. Hot and cold water taps were just a few steps outside and the decidedly unVictorian outside bathroom was well appointed. Cooking on the range took a little getting used to but just meant that meals took a little longer to prepare. The thermos we brought to take on walks was filled with hot water each night so we could have hot tea in the morning without lighting the range and a head torch for washing up and night time toilet trips was also a big help. The only area we found the cottage lacking was comfort. Whilst the double bed was comfortable enough, the single beds were not and there was only one vaguely comfortable chair in the house. Clearly Victorians weren't ones for sitting down. Other than that, it's a lovely cottage and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

"Wonderful location, excellent place for walks, and great base for discovering surrounding region. Lovely weather for majority of fortnight while here. Cottage is very comfortable to return to in evenings and relax. Dog-friendly and well set up for our two dogs to stay. Owners, Lawrie & Sally, are very friendly and helpful, and readily available if needed, without imposing in any way. Their welcoming bottle of wine, flowers and food provisions were much appreciated, and their well thought-out information booklet was most useful. We can't think of anything which would have made our stay any better, and highly recommend the Stables for a great break of any length."

"A very comfortable cottage, well equipped and clean. A welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar and milk along with biscuits and eggs was appreciated. A pleasant seating area in the back garden too. Good location for exploring Shropshire, especially the town of Shrewsbury, several National Trust properties and the Ironbridge museums. Shrewsbury is a good shopping centre and there is a selection of shops and a supermarket by the Meole Brook park and ride. Minsterley itself has a good Coop beside the petrol station. The Nags Head in Pontesbury is excellent for food. A lovely cottage to return to after a day exploring. We would definitely return."

"Kitchen equipment was lacking - would have expected beer, wine and water glasses .for 4 people as a minimum. Pans were dirty - some still had oil in them. A lot of the crockery was dirty too and had clearly been badly hand washed. Maybe provide more than just one dishwasher tablet to encourage people to use it? House instructions are out of date - eg, no information about what recycling goes where and when it is emptied. The boiler was not on a timer as in the house instructions, it was all turned off. It is a lovely cottage, and lovely and warm once we got the heating on!"
