"There is no denying the amazing views, but that's all there is and owners can't rely just on that to rent out a property. The farmers track is passable with a 4x4 as very uneven and high in certain places. If you don't have the clearance under your car you will cause damage. The cottage itself needs a bit of TLC, its a bit tired, unclean and dram. Kitchen windows are permanently misted so obscures the view. The garden is very unkempt, needs weeding, a mow and tidy. Garden furniture old and rotten, no where to eat in the garden to enjoy those views. A small old 2 set bistro set available, but can't cope with 3 people to eat or sit.The cottage smelt awful (pet ammonia smell), very over powering. I used 2 cans of air freshener to mask the smell. We have dogs and my house smells clean so its up to owners to make sure house clean before renting out. The TV is standing on a couple of 2x4 wooden blocks)...why? Property is being rented, therefore a bit of effort needed, as its not cheap to rent! Double bed is awful, springs stick up and squeaks everytime we moved. Both of us suffered sleepless nights and backache. My son got into his single bed on the first night and cried out with pain...plastic plug cover was left under the sheet?? All inside window frames covered in black mold/dirt....a quick wipe with bleach would sort this out.Neighbours dog let out at 4am every morning for an hour and it barked non stop. Not enough kitchen utilises, bowls, cutlery or crockery and only 3 of us! There is nothing nearby no shops, pub too far to walk and was never open. So you do need to drive miles to get food, which ok for us, but if in a low car it will get damaged up the dirt track.I've rented cottages over 20 years with my dogs and family, and this one is the worst, especially considering the price. But we made the most of it and enjoyed the warm weekend on the beaches."

"My children and I spent a tranquil week at Cwm Hyfryd and enjoyed the friendly and most welcoming community around this area of West Wales. Nearby, is the village of New Quay which is a small, yet beautiful seaside village with a glorious beach; a little further away is the Georgian Harbour town of Aberaeron which is a picture postcard delight - and it was so lovely to revisit Elephants and Bananas (a small welsh arts and craft shop); and then there are the towns of Cardigan and Aberystwyth which are of equal distance (albeit in opposite directions) and are both well worth a visit. A walk along the seafront promenade in Aberystwyth, together with a walk up castle hill, is a must.Admittedly, it was difficult to leave Cwm Hyfryd to explore the area because it was so extremely homely .... my son just loved the comfortable beds - it was difficult to get him out of his bed, but I guess he was taking advantage of languishing before going off to University!A beautiful, well equipped property, in a stunning part of West Wales. The owner, Carys is very personable and kind (she offered and gave me a big hug after a very arduous journey (unusual heavy traffic and diversions)). I could see myself living there - that’s how much I loved Cwm Hyfryd!"

"This old farm complex is in a beautiful location and the cottage was furnished to a very high standard. It is in a rural location with the village of Mydroilyn only minutes away. Our cottage Gwel-Y-Lyn was the end cottage of three, having the best view across the valley. The cottage was extremely comfortable, albeit the twin beds had rather 'hard' mattresses. Bathroom facilities were very good as was the kitchen. The sitting area had really comfortable sofa and chairs and TV reception was good. There was no internet facilities but we managed with mobile data when outside the cottages thick walls. We did notice a few cobwebs around the property but a quick swipe with a duster cleared them away. I can thoroughly recommend the cottages. If you like peace and quite I would suggest you go out of season but if you are a family with children or a large group The Farmhouse, The Mill and The Stable properties are ideal."

"Just had an absolutely fantastic week at Cwmhyfryd. The barn is located only 3 miles from New Quay and a 20 min drive from Aberaeron, but is itself in the middle of nowhere, so if you like getting away from it all and enjoy peace and tranquility with the option to hit the local beaches, this is the place to go. We were a party of 8 (plus dog !) and there was plenty of room for all, as well as for our food and drink ! 2 fridges, freezer, couldn’t go wrong.... Owners were fab (lovely welcome pack) and gave us use of the surrounding farm fields to walk the kids, dog and fly kites. 3 of the 4 bedrooms had en suite facilities with the 4th having it’s own shower / toilet off the utility room. Other facilities included outdoor table tennis table, badminton and a ‘proper’ BBQ. Will definitely be back to Cwmhyfrd in the future :-)"

"Had a wonderful time here. It was great fun with all the animals dotted around, to draw the curtains and be greeted by a donkey looking in. Owners had just taken over but were very friendly and approachable. It was just myself, my husband and 2 dogs but I would think for anyone with small children it would be an absolute joy. Would just say that pub is not 1 mile away. I think it has closed down, whether that is a permanent thing or just temporary I couldn't say but it would have been nice to pop into a local pub after a long dog walk. Cottage was very spacious and bed was the most comfortable I have slept in (even had a sneak look at what make the mattress was as it was so lovely). Would suggest the owners sell little packs of food for the animals - win, win situation. Would definitely go back."
