"If you are looking for a warm cosy cottage, dog friendly, in the middle of a working farm, with lovely friendly helpful hosts (even in the middle of lambing in storms....) - then look no further! It’s all freshly decorated so all just like new. 3 horses to greet you at the back door every morning. Free range hens, geese and guinea fowl wandering around the yard. 1000 pregnant ewe’s in the surrounding fields, with about a dozen newborn lambs every morning. Cute little Dexter calves as well. And of course cats and sheepdogs. Oh and Red Kites in the skies.300 acres to walk - including the hill opposite, with amazing views down to the sea. Just the sound of animals, birds, and water (as the stream has lots of lovely little waterfalls). But it’s only 2 miles down the track to Pontarddulais where there are pubs, takeaways and even a big Tesco’s if that takes your fancy. What’s not to love? And if you fancy finding out more about this lovely farm & family find the bbc documentary online on Emlyn “Looking after lambs”.To Justine and Emlyn - thank you! Despite the weather, we had a great time - and we will return."

"Lovely house in a beautiful location, very spacious and perfect for a large family holiday of several generations. The upstairs library/sitting room was stunning and the best room in the house. Well equipped playroom and good outdoor play area for children. The house is a bit more remote than expected with the local amenities being a good few miles away. In need of updating, unfortunately the beds are very uncomfortable and mattresses need replacing as they offer no support, the sofas in the living room also in need of replacing due to being rock hard to sit on. This did not take away from the house being stunning. There was plenty of room, the master bedroom was fabulous with a beautiful en suite bathroom. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of seating for all the guests. The views are stunning and it was lovely to sit out, looking at the surrounding scenery and watching the wildlife."

"A lovely, spacious and very warm modern cottage with a wonderful view over the valley to the Black Mountains. The track up to the site needs careful negotiation and there are some ramshackle farm buildings to the side and rear of the cottage but the area is very quiet and we enjoyed watching the barn owl arriving at and leaving the barn at the back. The kitchen is large and mostly well equipped and organised for recycling but could perhaps use a grater and some new cutlery. The beds are very comfortable and the bedding non-feather. There are plenty of towels and toilet rolls and the shower is a joy. There is a petrol station with shop nearby but we shopped at the Co-op in Llandeilo which is a short drive away. All in all, this is one of the nicest places I have stayed; we had a lovely relaxing time and the owners were delightful. Thank you very much."

"Awelfryn is a very comfortable holiday property with the most amazing views over the surrounding countryside. There aren't many self-catering places we can't fault but this is one of them! The owners, Elinor and Alan, live next door and are very friendly but not intrusive. Llandybie is a 5 minute drive away and has a useful Co-op, butcher, baker and other little shops so you can get all you need for everyday, as well as The Red Lion which, at the time of our stay, was doing good food. If you need a bigger range of shops, Ammanford and Llandeilo are not that far away. Plenty of interesting places to visit, including castles, museums and gardens, also beaches within a reasonable distance. We thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxing stay at Awelfryn and hope very much to stay there again."

"Very basic accommodation . Just about big enough for two people.Main drawback is the so called shower which was no more than a hand held shower head connected to the bath tap. There was no shower screen or curtain so the bathroom was liable to become soaked. The bath was poorly sealed to the wall leading to water leaking down the wall into the ground floor . There was no hand hold so the whole set up was a safety hazard . The oil fired boiler supplying hot water was vented beneath the kitchen and bedroom windows which gave rise to some mysterious odours when running. That aside, the area is very scenic and the local people were friendly and helpful."
