What our customers are saying about our Coastal Cottages In Little Blencow To Rent.
- Mrs Davies, April 2018 - verified booking
"Spotlessly clean, beautifully presented, this cottage is a real credit to its owners Bill & Patsy. The high quality of all the furnishings, fitments and fixtures elevates it way above any of the many other rental cottages we have ever stayed in. Its warm, quiet, everything feel solid and the views are terrific. The owners are next door for questions and help if required, but allow one privacy, the perfect hosts! By nature I am picky and can generally find things that trouble me at these rental cottages but in this instance apart from a couple of minor nit-picks too trivial to mention, I am at a loss to come up with anything negative about the cottage that I feel I should warn others about. We really enjoyed coming back to the cottage after a day's touring and walking, so much so we preferred to cook and "chill out" that eat at pubs and restaurants. The sun sets on the Scotland side of the Solway Firth so every evening one is treated to a display of colour, as a landscape photographer I really apprecaited that! I guess my only area of slight dissapointment was not about the cottage at all but just how little there really is to do in the area. We found ourselves travelling to the Lake District every day and its quite a journey taking 1.5 hours or longer. Of course we knew that when we booked I just found the Solway Firth a tad boring, we didnt see a single boat or any activity all week, and its quite a monotonous beach to walk. What I am trying to say is if you are happy at this location then the cottage is absolutely perfect, but if your main interest is in the Lake District it might be a bit far from the "action". Overall this is a 5 star property. Lovely views, terrific interior and exterior and above all it has that intangible sense of feeling at home and comfortable."

"Beautifully clean property and well maintained by owner both inside and out. Good location for Gretna and venturing to the beach a short drive away & Tesco etc is also within easy reach for essentials. Adored watching the cows from the back garden, which is an excellent space and not shown on any pictures on the booking site and was the best feature of the cottage. Had extra family staying the first 2 days due to a family occasion and owners were very accommodating My only 2 points I would like to have known is that the cottage is situated on the main bypass and there is a constant traffic noise if spending time in the garden, although with windows shut is quiet enough on a night. The 2nd and most important for me was I booked the cottage solely for having an enclosed garden and being dog friendly, however there is a farm cat that roams the garden from early morning to early evening and my dog being very reactive to cats, I couldn’t sit and relax in the garden as he made regular appearances and the dog was constantly running to gates and I worried she would attempt to escape to chase, and left a couple of days early. Aside from this issue the owners were really lovely and friendly and overall I would stay again if in that part of Scotland, knowing what to expect on the dog front"

"Luxury cosy cottage in an area of outstanding beauty. This is the perfect retreat when you feel the urge to recharge. From booking to arriving to staying there -everything was stress-free. The view is outstanding and good to watch in all weathers. Recommend that you bring your basic provisions (or stop in ASDA at Carlisle) as the village does not have a shop. The village does have a decent walkers pub in the Kings Arms which serves good food and great beer. The cottage itself is exceedingly well equipped - loads of crockery, full range of tip-top appliances- and felt like a home from home. There books, maps, walking routes, DVD, CDs and board games to keep you entertained. The wi-fi is free but does drop away sometimes, which is a good excuse to step away from the e-mail or the game station! The beds are exceptionally comfy and come complete with an electric blanket. The coastal walk from the doorstep of the cottage is lovely and there are plenty of interesting day-trips within 40 mins drive. The owners live next door and are very helpful and work hard to keep the cottage in tip-top condition."

"A romantic and remote setting with a very glamorous view that is great to watch in all weathers - we were blessed with a clear night time sky and star-gaze! The cottage is luxuriously equipped with good quality appliances, crockery and pots and pans. The beds were super comfy and rooms had black-out blinds to aid a good night's sleep. The underfloor heating and electric blankets meant that we were toasty warm even when the temperature was below freezing. The nearest village shop is a short drive away but we would recommend stocking up on supplies at the Asda at Carlisle or bringing your own provisions if staying for short break, there is plenty of space in the fridge, cupboards and separate freezer. There is a wonderful coastal walk from the doorstep and a great village pub in which to drink beer and eat cumberland sausage and chips when you return. This is totally unspoilt coastline in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return."

"HighBank is a great cottage in a wonderful location. There is plenty of room for 8 people (with extra beds to choose from) but I am not sure the kitchen could cope with catering for 8. There is only one smallish oven and a slight shortage of serving dishes. However, with a bit of imagination it could be done. We had a week long stay in a very cold January week and were warm and cosy. The log stove in the sitting room is great. The beds were comfortable and there is lots of space. One small caveat is that there was nothing provided to wash up with - dish washer tabs yes but no washing up liquid, washing up brush or sponge or a dish cloth. All no cleaning materials in the bathrooms. Apart from that all was fantastic and we loved the house and its situation."
