"We hired this property for the week of Christmas 2017. It’s 8 miles away from the nearest supermarket but the owners had provided a comprehensive supply of toiletries and cupboard essentials including some herbs, cooking oil, margarine, bread, milk, sparking wine and toilet roll. The bedrooms are spacious and lots of space to store clothes. There are two lounges, one roomy kitchen, a twin bedroom and a utility room (with washer and fridge freezer) downstairs, 1 bathroom with loo and separate shower, 1 loo and shower upstairs, along with the rest of the bedrooms. However, the upstairs was very cold, the windows were old and single glazed, and there was condensation on the inside of the windows every morning. One toilet broke on 23rd Dec, and although the owner came to look at it, he wasn’t a plumber and unable to fix it so we had a house-full and only one loo for 5 days until we left. The property is very rural, and down a very muddy drive through a farm, so please be aware that some vehicles might struggle down it. Also, the sat nav was wrong by 0.6 miles and we struggled to find it in the dark. That having said, the owners were pleasant, the property was nicely decorated with Christmas trees and lights, and we had an enjoyable week, and we would go again."

"Hill Farm was difficult to keep warm. I realise we were visiting in a particularly cold February. However the heating went off too early in the evening and with young grandchildren did not come on early enough in the morning. We solved the problem by moving the fire from one lounge and using it in the lounge attached to the kitchen. Enjoyed the piano in this lounge. The kitchen was well stocked, good sized table and there was a lovely welcome hamper. However not enough towels. The outside area had plenty of chairs and tables if you were visiting in the summer. One side of the cottage is right in the farm yard so be prepared for tractors and plenty of animals! One bedroom is downstairs but there is no downstairs toilet. if going in cold weather take plenty of thermals!"

"We stayed at Grange Croft for a month whilst relocating to the UK with our 3 teenagers. There is nothing to fault with Grange Croft. The cottage is very well equipped to make your stay enjoyable, the decor and furnishings are to a high standard, it really feels like a home and not a holiday let. All bedrooms are spacious with double beds, wardrobe, table and chair plus TV. To the rear of the property there is a garden/patio which is not overlooked and very private. Good location for Melton Mowbray, Oakham and Rutland Water. Beautiful 3 hour walk on footpaths / roads to Oakham. Local Pub and The Windmill Tea room are well worth a visit- just a few mins walk away. The owners are very welcoming. Definitely will stay there again."

"Stayed for a long weekend with friends. Even though the website said pub in 1 mike it’s actually 1.7 miles, and there are no local taxi firms. On the Saturday evening one of the upstairs toilets blocked (seems to be a common theme reading the reviews) and owner didn’t seem overly concerned so 8 of us shared one toilet. Could really do with a downstairs toilet as well. Need to sort the wasps nests in the guttering. Left the window open in the bathroom only to be bombarded with a swarm of them over the light which luckily as there was wasp killer spray we managed to kill them. Overall a nice place and we had a great stay."

"Whilst Grangecroft was maintained to a very high standard and finish it was disappointing to find we were continually cold throughout our stay as the owners controlled the heating and the fire wasn’t working and would have been at an extra cost.Disappointingly to get your security deposit back it was necessary to strip all the beds! This coupled with a feeling of being watched meant we had to cut our break short. What a shame as this is a lovely property with the potential of being a fabulous place to take a break however the things mentioned spoilt things for our group"
