What our customers are saying about our Holiday Cottages With Swimming Pools In Leek To Rent.

- Shellykins2013, December 2016 - verified booking

"This place is awesome & amazing for a family break away. We stayed for a week the week before Christmas as we often like to get away with the family and couldn't be more pleased with Aeolus. The directions made it very easy to find for all of us arriving at different times over the week. The first most amazing room was the indoor pool, the kids (ranging from 9 yrs - 21 yrs!!!) had a great time with the inflatables, water was warm to start off but gradually got cold throughout the week. Sauna, shower & changing room all great for the family. We tried a few times to get the projector working in the pool room but unable to. The orangery just off the pool room was freezing but would be fantastic in the summer or in warmer weather. The huge kitchen had everything you could wish for, loads of cupboard space, large fridge/freezer & double oven (one oven door doesn't close properly), the dining room next door was able to accommodate 10-12 people for an early Xmas Dinner. The lounge was very warm & cozy with underfloor heating, it could do with additional seating as only enough space for 8 to sit comfortably. Lots of other rooms to go in to library, snug etc. Wifi signal was only good in the snug/library as close to the connection. The bedrooms were very comfortable we had them all as doubles with the exception of the bunk beds. 2 of the double rooms had private bathroom & 1 also had huge jacuzzi bath & gym area through from the master bedroom. Tennis courts, children's play area & surrounding grounds all well looked after and maintained. Our main moans & groans with the place was the outside Hot Tub was not working (which we were informed of 1 week prior to arriving), could not get the projector in the pool to work, pool temperature went cold & cleanliness of the kitchen/bathroom was not to our standard as we had to clean kitchen/bathrooms on our first night. But this did not put us off this amazing million pound holiday house/cottage. We frequently walked down the hill to Buxton (20 min walk) for a small shopping centre. We dined at the Dukes pub just across the road serving good traditional pub grub once & the little shop assisted us a few times with additional food & drink. This place has everything & would love to return again."

"The things I would have wanted to know about Moorecroft before going :Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, 1 has an ensuite with no shower, 1 is next door to a bathroom and the 3rd is across the hall past the lounge so is a walk to the bathroom – we had four people staying in all 3 bedrooms and all 4 of us shared the 1 bathroom. All bedrooms are in the eaves, with a 6ft2” husband this really didn’t work well.Downstairs is very open plan – too open plan to allow for effective use of all the space with a large group who at times want some separation. The 2 kids rooms and 1 bathroom are behind the pool and through the dining room, for us with teenagers this was a problem as with no clear separation from kitchen to bedrooms we were having to be very quiet each morning and only use the upstairs lounge meaning up and down for refreshments to the kitchen. The cinema room is open plan to the downstairs lounge and you can only use either the cinema TV or the lounge TV – we had hoped for 3 distinctive TV areas but there are only 2. There is another bathroom behind the cinema room, we didn’t use this at all as it was in such a difficult place.Overall, it’s a very confused layout that would only work for a very specific group of people. We were 6 in total, I cannot imaging fitting 12 into the cottage. The garden was very small.Parking for 3 cars doesn’t really exist, the driveway is on the steepest of slopes, we didn’t even attempt to bring a car down to the bottom so parked 1 of our 2 cars on the road.Worst of all for the children was WiFi awful. On the positives the cottage is clean and in the most part well equipped, the pool was great. It’s in a great location – we were there over half term so very expensive and overall we wouldn’t spend that amount of money on staying again."

"Whilst this holiday home had quite a lot going for it in terms of the facilities on offer - garden, swimming pool, tennis courts and hot tub etc; in order for it to warrant the money charged it needs a fair amount of additional care. The kitchen facilities let the property down in a big way and in a large party including children there should be adequate facilities for folks to eat in. The cooker in the kitchen is in need of a great deal of care - the oven sections were FILTHY - so we spent an hour cleaning them before we could use them and as there are professional services out there that do a remarkable job - this should not be the case. Cleaning it would be one option but it is tired and did not maintain temperature in the oven or on the hobs effectively so a replacement would be the better option. Whilst there were new pans the rest of the cooking trays etc were poor and much of the crockery has seen better days. The beds were clean and comfortable for everyone in the party but there were a number of things needing attention. Simple things like new door mats that are actually fit for purpose and allow people to wipe their feet effectively would help prevent the amount of leaves etc carried into the property and fixing the tap on the bath in the main bathroom would make using the bath safer and give a better general impression that things are maintained properly. There is mention of the need for mouse bait boxes in the winter but as we were joined on the first night by a mouse in the kitchen perhaps these need to be considered year round. Overall we had a good week as a large family group at Aeolus but I do think the charges for the property are enough that we should have had our expectations met and more."

"This was our first time booking with Sykes cottages. We stayed in laurel cottage which is one of 2 cottages run by the owners jacqui and mark. They are very nice and helpful. Check in was very easy and there was a welcome basket on arrival which was nice. The 2 cottages have shared use of the pool and hot tub area which is a really fabulous space just perfect for us and our little boy who loved sitting and splashing in the warm pool and watching people splashing in from the very fun slide! The cottage itself was quite basic and small which suited our needs and is ideally located for visiting the surrounding areas of the Peak District. There were a few things that would have made this cottage better. Unfortunately, the WiFi never worked for us. We had adequate 4g so managed. There were also a few touches which would have helped it feel more like a home away from home eg more pictures on the walls, slightly more equipment in the kitchen (no corkscrew, sieve, colander, scales, whisk, mixing bowl or airer for inside use). Having said this however, on contacting jacqui, she was very quick to help in any way and provide us with what we needed. I think to make best use of this cottage, I would recommend booking both together with family/friends in order to maximise time spent in the best feature which is the hot tub/pool area."
