"Although brilliantly located right on the doorstep of Keswick, Burnside Park itself has no central facilities so you need to bring everything with you or drive or walk into Keswick which isn’t particularly a major chore but a small shop with the basics or a pub/bar to get something to eat on site would be good. The lodge itself is quite cramped for a three bedroom property and I wouldn’t have liked to have stayed for a full week as there isn’t really ample space for 5 or 6 adults over more than a few days. It interior, whilst quite clean, is a little dated with faults here and there that could be easily fixed (cracked cistern cover and chipped worktop which just look a bit scruffy). There was no wifi which isn’t the fault of the owners and, indeed, there may be some who like it for it’s absence, but it would be good in the future as it’s pretty much a standard expectation these days. All in all I don’t think we’ll be staying at Burnside Park again as we’re used to bigger cottages with better facilities but it’s our own fault for leaving it very late to book."

"This was our second year booking Peel Wyke and we were pleased with the cottage again apart from one or two things that could do with upgrading. The carpet in the lounge and twin bedroom could do with a clean. The radiator in the bathroom needs cleaning and painting.Clearer heating instructions would help for those not used to the kind of boiler that is there.I had to pull the dressing table out to retrieve something that had fallen down the back and I found dirty tissues and a great deal of dust etc there which looks as though it had not been vacuumed for some time.Last year I reported that the door leading outside from the dining end could not be opened. This had not been attended to, which meant we could not have fresh air coming in there on very warm days.We hope to come to Peel Wyke again and would recommend it without hesitation to friends. The above comments are not criticism rather notes to make it even better. The beds are very comfortable however the whole place just needs a little more love. The views from the dining room picture window are amazing."

"The cottage is clean and well equipped. The shower is good as is the quality of the bedding etc. The wifi is very good. The location is very near the town centre so convenient. There is a dedicated parking spot so only useful if all 3 people travel together. However the upstairs floors creak so loudly that we were woken by anyone walking across them and this is the main reason we would not recommend it. Even my hearing impaired dad found it annoying. The double bed also creaked very loudly. This room is so narrow you have to walk sideways to get into bed. The steepness of the stairs was mentioned in the cottage info but the narrowness of the landing was not and is a hazard. There is no demarked or planted 'patio' area at the back and the front garden is by a busy road and over the road not adjacent to the river as described."

"Although advertised as being for 2 people I feel it could be found to be claustrophobic for some. My Wife did not accompany me on this short walking break and would not have been happy as it is very " compact ". The building itself is very nice although this flat seems to have been an afterthought judging by the exposed water pipes and, although clean, it is somewhat tired. Despite previous comments by others the blind in the bedroom remains broken thus letting in early morning light. Also, please note that the bedroom/living room doors are fitted with Yale locks! I've never, ever come across this before so please ensure that you have your keys with you at all times, failing which you may, like me, find yourself locked out of the bedroom in the early hours. At least there might be a shiney new door now!"

"The property was disappointing in that externally the grounds had not been cleaned; there were weeds at the driveway, and cobwebs around the front door frame; some paving was loose in the rear area, which could have been dangerous. Internally the decor is very dated. It appears not to have been updated for thirty or more years. Ceiling papering is very poor. There were cobwebs at the top of door frames. The internal doors are not all the same finish. The front entrance door locking system is not working properly, making locking uncertain from a security point of view. Thankfully, the seating and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen and dining facilities are fine. The bathroom suite is aged. Generally, for the rental charge, it did not offer good value for money.I would not book it again."
