Mrs Sheard - verified booking
" It had obviously been unused for a length of time e.g. vase full of dead flowers in stagnant water, and congealed gravy in a dish in the fridge. The same smell was also inside all of the kitchen cupboards where crockery was stored, and this had to be washed thoroughly before use. 2) the downstairs rooms were dark and dingy and full of clutter. 3) Unable to sleep in master bedroom due to traffic noise. 4) dogs continually barking and howling in adjoining properties. 5) 'Help' documentation was non existent i.e. bins and collection dates/ places to visit. 6) Garden was NOT enclosed - had to block with wheelie bins to stop dog escaping. 7) Could not attain Wi-Fi. Tried to use code on router without success. 8) advertised as 5 minutes walk to beach and 5 minutes to pub. More like 1 hours walk to beach and 30 minutes walk to pub. 9) We cannot believe that there have not been any previous negative comments about this property. We were very disappointed with this booking as we were looking forward to a relaxing holiday near the beach, which we had saved hard for, for over a year. Not up to the standard expected with Sykes cottages. "

"I was very disappointed when I used this cottage because it doesn’t look like what it is from the pictures it was extremely dirt and awful where I found a rat inside the pool facility two times and there was dead insects and bugs all over inside the house. Not only this but the bathroom sink was all rusty and old that you can see the rust colour on the metal silver parts and there was a point the oven was not working too so we had to wait a day during the holiday break I have booked for and engineer to come and fix so due to these problems I couldn’t stand it and due to paying for a weeks stay we only stayed 3 days and left because it was very appalling. It was also very hard to get in contact in with the owner so I will not recommend this cottage as I have used this site before and been to other cottages which where up to better standard and they were on a country side as this one but it was amazing not a shaming like this cottage and I’m sorry to leave this review but I don’t want other users to waste money on this cottage when there are better ones out there. After all this only £100 refund was given back what the owner thought was acceptable which we did not think."

"The seaside cottage was an excellent base for exploring Suffolk and Norfolk. There was a great restaurant “waterfront” just over the road which served wonderful food but you must book as it’s very popular. There’s also a pub across the road, but can’t comment on there as we did go. Small shop just up the road, stocks most basic supplies but very good. Also a co-op further in the village. Very good fish and chip shop up the road. Accommodation was very clean on arrival and well stocked with utensils, etc. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable week here. Hope to visit again."

"the lounge had a good looking settee but could not sit on it - made for 8 foot people - sat on camper chairs the whole week - quite a dark cottage made worse with black lampshades - could not read with all lights on - same in main bedroom - garden accessed with a road and garage between house - no clear instructions regarding bin collection - we assume no recycling - bin men would not take refuse with white bin liners"

"We were met by the owners who could not have been more helpful, The cottage and the area was ideal for us and our dogs as we just wanted to relax and walk the many beaches. The cottage was warm and cosy and had everything we wanted, could not fault itThe village has ample shops and takeaways. The pub opposite was very friendly,We would recommend this cottage"
