Skye was recently voted the 4th best island in the entire world by National Geographic, which means that it’s suddenly come on the radar as something of a holiday hotspot. Although it’s not renowned for tropical weather, Skye does see the mercury rising in the summer and many of our Isle of Skye cottages are close to some of the best beaches, such as Glen Brittle Beach and Talisker Bay. Pack your swimming costume or if you’re a bit of a wimp, a wetsuit!

Check out the Old Man of Storr, a huge pinnacle of rock and one of the island’s most famous walks. Sometimes kids need a bit more than stunning scenery, so a visit to the Serpentarium at Broadford gives them the opportunity to learn about and handle snakes, while the Otter Hides at Kylerhea offer the opportunity to see otters in the wild.
