"Ovington House is beautiful, roomy (but still cosy!) and just perfect for large groups. We didn't do a lot of "self catering" but we'd be hard pushed to think of anything we would have needed should we have gone beyond the toaster! Plenty of dishes, utensils, glasses and so on were provided. The kitchen was very well equipped. There's even additional fridge/freezer facilities in the utility room, which itself is a great place for wet coat and muddy boots in the event of the more unreliable British weather. The rooms are lovely, with great views across the valley, the bathrooms excellent and I cannot think of single de-merit! The garden and grounds are peaceful and have several seating areas. The house is in a very small hamlet, but there is an excellent little restaurant a minute's stroll away (great menu and very friendly) and the Social Centre is handy and welcoming if you do want to have the evening out without driving. Everywhere else is a drive, but depending on the purpose of your stay, a well stocked fridge and larder in a house offering so much space, means you may not wish to leave. A huge kitchen table is a great place for games, and two well furnished lounges, means there's space for different groups &/or generations to be able to follow their own pursuits without imposing on one another. Little things sometimes lacking in self catering properties are thoughtfully provided - dishwasher tablets, for example. There's plenty of parking space. There's wifi. It's wonderful. We will be returning."

"The holiday home was great, it really suited our family's needs. It is hard to find a property with all rooms en-suite and this was a big bonus. The living space was really big enough to fit us all in, sitting in the lounge and around the table. I don't think anyone complained of having a bad night's sleep. Some motion sensor lights outside would have been an advantage, either for when walking down to the car or to sit out in the evening though winter it was very mild when we were there. It was so pitch black outside, this was difficult on the first night as my puppy went into the garden and ran around the side, knowing there was no gate I followed him in case he ran out into the driveway, however I walked into the stone gate post and tripped up the step, very messy. The garden wasn't puppy friendly, he hadn't seen horses before so a couple of times tried to go in and play with the big dogs. The only downside was a couple of rings on the cooker were difficult to light, more luck than skill."

"We had an absolutely fabulous time staying at Ovington for a hen weekend. The spacious en suite bedrooms were brilliant meaning everyone had their own space when needed - a real luxury at a good price. We did lots of cooking and baking in the excellent kitchen and were lucky enough to enjoy some sunshine in the garden. We ate at The Feathers Inn (20 mins away by car) which was superb. The village amenities are quite limited but it's not too far off the main road and it's just a case of being prepared. We visited the nearby Go Ape at Maften as one of our activities. Many thanks to the owners at Ovington for making this a lovely relaxed and enjoyable stay."

"Ovington House is beautiful and although large has a lovely homely atmosphere - beautifully furnished and dressed - it was ideal for everyone who stayed. Our only gripe was that the surfaces were quite dusty and the kitchen and equipment were not as clean as they could have been. The weather was not too good so we did not use the garden which was just as well as the lawns were too long and the garden paths were unsafe for those not so good on their feet. The garden furniture also needed cleaning when we did sit on the patio we were covered in green moult from the furniture."

"We stayed at Ovington house to celebrate a 30th birthday and a 60th wedding anniversary within the family. The house itself was absolutely beautiful, most rooms had en suite bathrooms and the kitchen had everything we needed. An added bonus was the large garden with trampoline and the lovely decking area. Only a few miles from Corbridge, which is a lovely town and in a great location for walking. The owner was lovely and so helpful. We would definitely return and will recommend to others."
