"This cottage really is in a fanstatic location with amazing views and a well thought out lay out.If you are taking a dog with you then you'll find well marked footpaths and lovely routes. The cottage itself is pretty well kitted out (but a pair of oven gloves would be useful). We did buy bottled water as the supply tasted very chlorinated but that can't be held against the property. The garden is secure and you can bolt the gate from the inside. There is a raised patio area which is not fenced. The beds were comfortable with lovely white linen and the upstairs bedroom has a wonderful view and an en suite bathroom/ shower room. Both showers were really powerful and a joy to use.The property could do with some general maintenance and some areas needed to be given a deep clean but it is mid season and change over time is often too quick for doing those time consuming tasks. The parking is in the pub car park next door to the property. The pub itself is clearly popular and the menu was pretty extensive. There are polite and helpful staff working there.Over all I think you would have to go a long way to find a better property.Near by Hexham has a Waitrose, Tesco, either Lidl or Aldi and a small Co op with plenty of other shops in the centre.Any negative points I have raised are far out weighed by the positive points and are purely observations as we would happily holiday there again."

"Although I read in other reviews that Millside is a quiet place, We would like to remark that the supplying of the shops in the morning is quite noisy. Millside is located just behind Bridge Street and is opposite parking spots for the centre. This said: we had a very nice and pleasant stay in Morpeth. The (big) house has 3 bedrooms and is very wel furnished and equiped. The location is five footsteps from the center and close to the busstation. The trainstation is within 10 minutes walk. We travelled in Northumberland by bus and train and that went very well. Morpeth is a nice market town with enought restaurants and shops. The people are very, very nice! We are sure to come back!"

"My husband and I stayed here with two grandchildren aged four and seven. Alcedine is a lovely, secluded, spacious property on the impressive Darras Hall Estate. The rest of the family who live nearby came over regularly to socialise. The location is very convenient for exploring Newcastle, the stunning Northumberland coast and the wonderful wide open countryside. We liked the fact that it's only a short run to the airport as we fly up from Heathrow. The pretty little town of Ponteland is five minutes away and has some very good pubs and restaurants plus a Waitrose and Sainsbury's. It's a perfect base for a family holiday or for two or three couples who want to holiday together."

"An excellent modern, well-equipped, furnished and decorated bungalow, situated on a small development of similar on the southern edge of Hexham, with parking to the front drive. The walk down into Hexham town centre is around 15 minutes, on footpaths at the side of reasonably quiet roads. The walk back from the town centre is uphill, but this should be manageable by most reasonably active people. Hexham is an historic, attractive market town, pleasantly situated in the Tyne valley. There are good transport links, by car and train, to the surrounding area, for example to Hadrian's Wall, to the Pennine Hills for walking, and to the nearest city Newcastle Upon Tyne."

"We came for a sight seeing holiday and found plenty to do. We visited the Bowes Museum on the journey up to the cottage then visited Durham City, the Cathedral for a whole day, the castle for half a day, Beamish Museum for two days, Cragside for a whole day and Hadrian's wall, Vindolanda and the Roman Museum for a whole day and again on the journey home. The cottage was a very comfortable base from which to explore. It had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The only thing we didn't get was sunshine to enable us to enjoy the garden but then apart from the visit to Hadrian's Wall we were indoors most of the time."
