"We arrived after a long journey from the UK on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the owner met us and as we started to walk round the property we noticed the lake next door had several jet skis being used very close to the property we were in, the owner never said anything about them, we were hot and tired and never thought to question the noise. After being shown around the owner departed with the words I will be back next Saturday for you to pay your tourist tax and 45 Euro electric charge, no meter reading here then!During the show round we were told to turn the water to the washing machine on only when in use as there was a small leak.We were unable to sleep in the large loft room due to the heat and the owner said if we slept up there we would need to keep the windows closed as there were lots of mosquitoes and he had not bought a fan yet, we ended up in a small bedroom downstairs cramped in a small double, but at least the air con unit downstairs kept it cool enough.Unpacked and went to sit by the beautiful lake with a cuppa, only to find the jet ski's still on the go with at least four roaring past us belching fumes for the next four hours! We sat it out and eventually the noise stopped and we had a very pleasant evening on the terrace with our food and drink. There is no taking it away from the place it is beautiful and our dog had the run of the place.I had noticed mould on the kitchen drainer and also dead insects squashed on the walls and had a good old clean round the next day, I am not a clean freak but it was grubby.Sunday morning came and yes the jet ski centre started all over again, four solid hours of feeling like we were at silver stone. Oh well maybe in the week it would not be a problem. No it wasn't but the gravel pit behind the property was in operation, it not as loud but was always there in the background. Also a man with a digger was digging up trees on the property boundary.I put a small load of washing on and went off to make breakfast, an hour later I discovered a flood in the shower room where the washing machine was located. turned the water off and cleaned up.The owners solution was to ring me and tell me not to wash anything! We moved into a B and B by Thursday. This could be an amazing place with TLC and if you are made aware beforehand that it is not tranquil all the time. Take your own bedding and pillows would also be my advice."

"We chose this location as it was in the heart of Alsace, close to Basle Airport and Germany. The location was quiet as we expected and there were many nice walks or rides to have, however there was only one shop in the village (A boulangerie) the owner was very friendly and the cakes delicious! The house owner did not speak any English and seemed withdrawn, however her daughter was very friendly and welcoming and explained everything and gave us a welcoming bottle of wine.A car is essential, as is a basic comprehension of French language otherwise you may have problems. Colmar was well worth a visit along with the many castles in the hills. If you like wine then this is your heaven. This property is not for people with mobility problems as you have to climb a number of steps from the parking area through the main door to the living area. There is a small courtyard to the rear of the property. We had two problems: 1. The Wi-Fi was very intermittent, which gave us problems contacting family back home. However the owner had said to the letting agency that this was the case, but that had not been reflected in the advert.2. There was a charge of 40 Euro for cleaning after we had departed. This I found very unusual and expensive as the place was left in a clean condition. We also had to bring our own linen and towels (or hire them for 10 Euro)!Overall we had a good time, but I must say that we have stayed in better."

"The chalet itself was lovely situated in the grounds of the owners garden. It was far enough away from their house to allow you privacy. Direction on the website were a struggle to follow and it turns out that once you find the owners house you have to go back around the road and access via a big wood yard. The site mentions about the owners exotic bird collection. This consisted of ducks, geese, pheasants, hens and 4 competing cockerels.Inside the chalet was cosy it had almost everything you need for your stay. However, a few things were missing. The advertised WiFi was not available, the TV was French channels only. It was very hot when we were there but there was no air conditioning or fan which meant at night you had to have windows open. ( this means you hear the 4 cockerels at 4am). I’m sure most of these issues could be sorted by talking to the owners unfortunately they did not speak any English and to my shame my French was very poor. If you speak fluent French and want to escape the rat race then this could be the place for you."

"Once we had found the location, the directions given on the booking form are not the best, the owners were most welcoming despite the language barrier. The family do keep a large variety of birds which can be very noisy on occasions especially the Cockerels but we did find them amusing to watch, and soon got used to themThe cottage its self is compact but cosy with everything that you need for your holiday. The highlight is without doubt the pool, which although advertised as private, is occasionally used by the family however normally when at the cottage we had sole use of the facility any time day or night. The cottage is within the grounds of the owners property but is far enough away from the main house to be private, it makes a good base for you to explore the area, there is a medium sized supermarket about 10 mins drive away which is well stocked. We had a great time there and were sad to leave at the end of our two weeks, we will rebook at sometime in the future"

"Peaceful and calm, occasionally there was noise from jet skis on the lake behind, but didn't really bother us.Were meet at the town church and taken to house by the owner who had fantastic English. We told to help ourselves to fire wood. The house was pretty basic but had everything you need for a relaxing break. Our two daughters had great fun playing on the bike's that were provided and messing about round the lake. All the grounds are fenced in, so great for the dog. There is a lovely English speaking vet 10 mins down the road in Oiry."
