"We arrived earlier than the check in time but the staff were lovely enough to let us check in early. We stayed in lodge number 5 however on entering the lodge we already noticed an issue, some of the cupboards in the kitchen had their vinyl cracked and peeling off. We also noticed the spatula was melted horribly. We went and spoke to the staff regarding both issues, the spatula was replaced within the hour however they mentioned they already knew about the cupboards and that they were due to be fixed soon. We weren’t overly happy about this as the amount of people who were staying at the retreat at the time and the amount of lodges we felt as though we should’ve been put in a different lodge, especially as we’d noticed a review of the same lodge that mentioned the cupboards 3 weeks before our stay. We had a look around the lodge and it also didn’t look like it had been used recently so there were cobwebs all in the lounge and the kitchen. Our speaker system also had a mind of its own and kept turning itself on every half hour throughout the day trying to find a DAB station and then making a rather irritating beeping sound which led to my other half unplugging it in order to stop it. We were given 2 keys to the lodge as well unfortunately though only one worked. Overall we were disappointed this time around as we had stayed at the resort 3 years prior and that stay was a lot better than this more recent one. The staff were lovely however the lodge we were disappointed with."

"Sells itself as a 5 star resort and it isn't. The interior of the lodge needs attention. The fascias on all cupboards including kitchen & bedroom are peeling off, giving the feel of a budget holiday. There is no privacy on the veranda and the placement of the lodges means some are directly overlooked. The car parking is not outside the lodge, it is in allocated spaces close by. The welcome pack consisted of a small metal box containing a leaflet and the lodge key, there was a half open pack of coffee and a few fruit tea bags in the lodge along with a couple of biscuits. The internet WiFi is limited and you cannot stream movies etc. There is no phone signal at all or mobile WiFi available in this location. There are a lot of rules regarding the use of the hot tub, some which seem a little over the top and restrictive in terms of the amount of time you can spend in it.Overall the whole experience left us feeling underwhelmed and did not deliver on the expectations created through the Hoseasons website."

"Glenside was a great place to stay for exploring south Cornwall without having to travel to far. Lovely beaches just minutes away and all the amenities you could need also very close. The house itself was lovely and spacious with everything there you could ever need including the hot tub that was great after a long day exploring. The owner is very friendly and on hand for any issues that we had. The only real issue we had was with the garden not being fully enclosed so we had to keep a close eye on our spaniel especially when we had a visit from a wandering local dog. ( Owner of glenside has been notified and should address the situation of garden security ). All in all this is a great base for a Cornish adventure."

"On the website it was given 4 out of 5 ticks so we expected that little something extra in terms of comfort and cleanliness. It was perfectly fine for our stay but a couple of niggles were the totally uncomfortable sofa, the dirty dishes and cutlery that we had to thoroughly wash before use and the state of the towels. They were described in a review over a year old as being threadbare so we expected the owner to have replaced them by the time of our visit but sadly no. However, don't be put off by this. We had a very enjoyable stay due to it's location. The local beaches are nice and Falmouth is pleasant and unpretentious. Trebah Gardens are also worth a visit."

"The Lodge was amazing to stay in for the week. We were out every day exploring so it was great to come back to relax. The beds were comfortable and a great power shower. Just a couple of wee niggles, in the master bedroom there is a vanity unit but no stool to sit on to use it and if you stand in front of it, you see your tummy. In the ensuite, there was a shaving point but no mirror. I was cooking breakfast one morning and set the smoke alarm off. It is directly above the oven/grill! A floor brush would be greatly appreciated in conjunction with the dustpan and brush."
