"Duncryne Cottage is a lovely place and we were comfortable there, although I was surprised that the welcome pack that is advertised consisted of a box of shortbread and a pint of milk in the fridge - absolutely nothing else. I thought at the least a box of tea and a jar of coffee could have been provided, after all it is an expensive house. I have stayed in much less expensive places and been afforded much more.I would also say that the upstairs bathrooms do not permit you to actually have a shower as there is no shower curtain /screen and the sloping ceilings do not really permit you to stand up in the bath. The description also said that there is a pub within a mile of the property but that is not true. If they are referring to the House of Darroch shop, that closes at 6pm and is a shop with a cafe not a pub. I did query this before we embarked upon our holiday but did not receive an answer.Although it is a nice house, I feel that it is overpriced and includes a welcome pack and a pub within walking distance within it's description - neither of which were apparent."

"The cottage was lovely and the owner (from a phone conversation) delightful and obviously very committed to furnishing/developing the cottage. The setting is great, and it's lovely to be able to bring our dog on holiday. There were a few minor glitches - mainly that the kitchen lighting was very bad. Not a problem during daylight hours, but we arrived after dark and it was a bit difficult to see what was what. I already know that this is a problem they are aware of and will be sorting out so it certainly wouldn't stop us from going again or from recommending it.The only other comment I'd make is that each of us, at one point or another, nearly fell down the step to the ground floor loo because it isn't an obvious step. The floor at both levels is the same so I guess it creates an optical illusion. It might be a good idea to paint the step, or the edges of it, a contrasting colour to make it more apparent."

"Gordon is a warm, welcoming, entertaining host who is kind enough to provide a generous welcome pack, comprising themed provisions and CD's; most enjoyable. The cottage, with it's lovely views and peaceful neighbourhood, is ideally situated for all the delights of Loch Lomond. There's plenty of off-road parking, nice gardens, a delightful conservatory and a supply of indoor entertainment (Freesat TV, DVD's, etc.).The heating and hot water is plentiful (paid separately), as are the good quality towels and bedding. However, the whole place is suffering from a lack of TLC; The double bed in the main bedroom is past it's best and needed padding for comfort. Read the same for the furniture. The position and lack of performance of the shower rendered it useless and some of the windows produced 'orrible, ghostly noises in a strong wind."

"Cottage was cold and on mentioning this someone came to rectify but we still found it cold. (Heating controls were in a locked cupboard). The lighting in kitchen area was not good at all with a main bulb out but very high ceiling (so we couldn't change it ourselves ) and even after mentioning this was not sorted. Mice appeared on kitchen work surfaces and again after texting owner took 2 days to come sort it. Dogs barking during the night and early in morning. Light hanging out of ceiling in upstairs shower (very dangerous). Extractor in kitchen buttons kept sticking so we struggled to turn it off. However cottage was well furnished and spacious could have done with more crockery there was only 6 of everything - I know house was for 6 but you end up setting off dishwasher 3 times a day! Both toilet seats were loose!"

"Location wise is excellent, but the cottage needs updating, and repairing, it’s all bit shoddy, little things, living room curtain rail has masking tape holding it together, the sofa arm is broke, the sofa removable covers needs washing now and then, the laminate kitchen floor needs replacing, plastic on fridge is broke, toilet roll holder is barely hanging on, the upstairs “child’s “ bedroom is decorated for 5 year olds, not all families staying have small children, my daughter was 21 and had to sleep in it. It would look better just decorated neutral. We paid for two weeks and over £1700 is not cheap to have to put up with. Having a small dustpan and brush and mop and bucket would be good so can keep kitchen floor clean, ect. The owner is a nice person, but needs to improve a lot of things."
