"Fifteen friends shared this magnificent home while attending the World Equestrian Games in Caen. My commitment is to return to fully enjoy this Chateau without the distraction of dressage. The photos and information provided are all very accurate. Arnaud the owner was very available and helpful to deal with during the booking and provided excellent information regarding the locale and guides (for a DDay tour). The residence itself is jaw-dropping. Once the front gates open you immediately realise that you've made an excellent choice. The housekeeper Francoise was a smiling face there to welcome you. There are ample areas for entertaining, both inside and out and a spectacular dining room. All the bedrooms are ensuited and very comfortable. Several are imposing to say the least. A couple of the bedrooms are relatively small (relative to the size of the chateau rather than the size of a typical European hotel room), but the communal areas are so numerous that it was very easy to find a quiet place to relax. The pool was well heated and the bikes were well used for morning rides to the local village. The grounds were exceptional - a twilight wander over the grass or through the trees with a glass in hand was a fantastic way to end the day. The kitchen was well equipped; however thankfully we didn't really need to avail ourselves of this because of the wonderful Gwenaelle, the cook. After the week we were working on ways of taking Gwenaelle with us! After a day touring or at the dressage, to arrive 'home' at 7pm and have Gwenaelle preparing a wonderful repast in the kitchen was for many of us a highlight. Excellent food that we were more than happy to consume every night. I will certainly be returning, probably next time with my extended family. Whilst this fabulous chateau is full of history and antiques, it is so very livable and felt very much like a home for all of us. For someone who travels frequently and widely, this was on of the best week's holiday I've had. And largely made that way because of the Chateau and it's staff."

"What a perfect quaint place to calm down and to have a unique family reunion experience! So far, we came twice. In the winter 2017, we enjoyed the serenity and the heavenly peace of the place that much, that we decided to come back in early summer 2018 with an even intergenerational part of the family! In the cold season we mostly enjoyed the lovely atmosphere of the house with it's thoughtful renovated sitting rooms which invite you have a rest in front of a old fire place, to read a book in one of those beautiful furnished lounges or to have extended meals with long intensive family discussions at the old oak table in the dining room. The large kitchen was a great communal space, perfectly equipped with excellent cooking facilities. Once or twice a day we went for walks in the lovely surroundings, enjoyed a trip to Autun or Dijon or became sportive with biking or playing tennis. In summer we mostly spent relaxing days outside with extended walks and young and old met around the beautiful swimming pool, a very pretty place to enjoy the views! The kids particularly enjoyed the trampoline in the barn and us parents, we were happy to see them so excited in this shadowy, hidden place. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and as beautiful as the rest of the house with stunning views from the first floor. Leaving the place the children talked of fairytale holidays and we were all convinced that we took home some everlasting memories of this beautiful place. We would like to thank Wim and Birthe for putting so much heart in renovating the property into such a comfortable and personal family manor. We felt transported back in time and we will definitely come back!"

"Just got back from Chateau Vaucluse having spent a wonderful week with friends and family at this beautiful property. Many thanks to the very gracious owner, the hospitable caretakers and not least the chef, who provided 2 great 4-course dinners! This is the 6th Chateau I've booked over the last 10 years and this is by far the best for many different reasons: 1. The location, in the middle of hundreds of acres of vineyards in Cotes du Rhone on a hill just outside a beautiful old village, is spectacular. 2. The property is beautiful and the attention to detail is fabulous. Everything is very well laid out - the pool is next to the Bar-B-Q which is next to the kitchen. On those beautiful summer evenings in Provence, there's nothing better than wining and dining outdoors on the terrace overlooking the beautiful countryside. 3. The bedrooms and bathrooms, just like the rest of the house, have everything you need. Although it's a very old property, all the amenities everywhere, are super modern and function extremely well. 4. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped for both indoor AND outdoor cooking. We were 12 adults, a teenager and an infant. A cot and high chair were provided for the infant. There was a pool alarm, which was great security, plenty of outdoor and indoor games, lounge chairs and couches/umbrellas for total relaxation. I could go on but there lacked for nothing! Needless to say, the week went by exceedingly quickly!!"

"We spent a fabulous week in August at Chateau de la Cheine - three ex-schools pals with assorted spouses and teenage offspring. The Chateau is a short drive from Bergerac (and nearby airport) and set in its own spacious grounds, with swimming pool and outdoor dining area. The Chateau itself could easily accommodate 16 of us plus baby, with room (and bathrooms!) to spare. Despite its size and air of French grandeur, we quickly felt at home there. On the ground floor there are several large communal rooms, but because of the excellent weather, we spent most of our waking hours outdoors. There is a large, well-equipped kitchen, as well as a games room where the younger members of the group could play pool (hooray!). There was plenty to see & do nearby - Bergerac and its food market are worth a day's visit in their own right - but, most of the time we preferred to relax by the poolside & enjoy the French countryside. Our host, Karen, lives nearby and was a good source of information and advice about things to see and do. For a small extra charge, and by prior arrangement, Karen cooked us a delicious three course meal (plus wine) on our first night. This was a really welcome start to the holiday as we were all weary from our travels. Highly recommended. Our only suggestion would to be to make sure you book two weeks and not one, to give yourselves time to unwind in this stunning holiday destination."

"The house was great, lots of space and things to do even on a rainy day. We were a large group - 11 adults, 3 children and 1 infant. We all enjoyed the Pool table and the children made use of the paddling pool despite the cool weather. The beach at les Greves was a 15 minute drive. We even made it to the horse racing at the beach. Nicest nearby beach was Lociquerec. We enjoyed the fresh croissants from the bakery in Plestin les Greves and discovered the closest local shop in Plougeat-Moysan which also supplied fresh Croissant and Baguettes for Breakfast. When we asked the Olivers office for information before our travel they were either extremely slow to respond or didn't get back to me at all. There appeared to be some mix up about the number of guests on arrival and the time of check in resulting in not enough beds being made. Overall the quality of the house was high but let down by some of the peripherals: The ping pong bats had broken rubbers, some bicycle tyres were flat, we couldn't get the DVD player to work and the washing machine and dishwasher were hard to open. One time during the week the gas ran out and the landlord was there within the hour to keep us going. The landlord kindly posted back Jewellery we had left behind. Despite the small number of mix ups around the arrival time a great week was had by all."
