"We spent a fabulous week in August at Chateau de la Cheine - three ex-schools pals with assorted spouses and teenage offspring. The Chateau is a short drive from Bergerac (and nearby airport) and set in its own spacious grounds, with swimming pool and outdoor dining area. The Chateau itself could easily accommodate 16 of us plus baby, with room (and bathrooms!) to spare. Despite its size and air of French grandeur, we quickly felt at home there. On the ground floor there are several large communal rooms, but because of the excellent weather, we spent most of our waking hours outdoors. There is a large, well-equipped kitchen, as well as a games room where the younger members of the group could play pool (hooray!). There was plenty to see & do nearby - Bergerac and its food market are worth a day's visit in their own right - but, most of the time we preferred to relax by the poolside & enjoy the French countryside. Our host, Karen, lives nearby and was a good source of information and advice about things to see and do. For a small extra charge, and by prior arrangement, Karen cooked us a delicious three course meal (plus wine) on our first night. This was a really welcome start to the holiday as we were all weary from our travels. Highly recommended. Our only suggestion would to be to make sure you book two weeks and not one, to give yourselves time to unwind in this stunning holiday destination."

"The house was great, lots of space and things to do even on a rainy day. We were a large group - 11 adults, 3 children and 1 infant. We all enjoyed the Pool table and the children made use of the paddling pool despite the cool weather. The beach at les Greves was a 15 minute drive. We even made it to the horse racing at the beach. Nicest nearby beach was Lociquerec. We enjoyed the fresh croissants from the bakery in Plestin les Greves and discovered the closest local shop in Plougeat-Moysan which also supplied fresh Croissant and Baguettes for Breakfast. When we asked the Olivers office for information before our travel they were either extremely slow to respond or didn't get back to me at all. There appeared to be some mix up about the number of guests on arrival and the time of check in resulting in not enough beds being made. Overall the quality of the house was high but let down by some of the peripherals: The ping pong bats had broken rubbers, some bicycle tyres were flat, we couldn't get the DVD player to work and the washing machine and dishwasher were hard to open. One time during the week the gas ran out and the landlord was there within the hour to keep us going. The landlord kindly posted back Jewellery we had left behind. Despite the small number of mix ups around the arrival time a great week was had by all."

"As you know we had a wonderful week. For our family this was a particularly special week - it being my parents Golden Wedding. In many ways that increases the expectations that everyone has of the place we are staying and how the week will go. The Chateau was an exceptionally good place to spend a week as an extended family. There was enough space for all of us despite our very varied ages. The pool was a delight, and it was far enough from the house that the youngest children were easy to keep under observation. The gardens were big enough for games of manhunt and the table tennis table added to the afternoon games. Eating outside in a space where we were comfortable as a group of 21 is a tough expectation, but it was perfectly met. We had one particularly wonderful evening when we celebrated my parents wedding anniversary. The rooms were all lovely. The all exuded delightful french charm with lovely views. There was plenty of space. Again, having a games room inside was a pleasure - one the children of all ages enjoyed. We know the area around Bergerac fairly well, but even so, it was great to spend time in this most lovely part of France. Overall, we were very well looked after in what was a perfect place for our family celebrations. I could not recommend the Chateau more highly."

"The Chateau in Beaune is a perfect place for a large group to be accommodated. Our group consisting 18 people, had relaxing bedrooms situated in the 19th century chateau or the 18th century cottage. The lounge room and adjoining library have been decorated in the period style and have comfortable seating to provide quiet time to read and or reflect on the opulence of the chateau's previous owners. Our host had extended the dining table so it was sufficient to seat everyone in the large dining room and enjoy meals together, discuss the days journeys and prepare activities for the next. The cooking facilities are large enough for everyone to be involved in meal preparation in the family kitchen or in the adjoining professional kitchen. Relaxing on the terrace or near the pool and sampling the locally purchased charcuterie, cheese and wine is a must after enjoying the day's activities. The local towns of Beaune, Meursault or Dijon provide ample opportunity to purchase supplies from produce markets or supermarkets. Vehicles are required to explore the area and ample parking is available in the extensive grounds of the chateau. An enjoyable and memorable time was had by all. Ian & Margery"

"All our family had a superb holiday in your beautiful manoir the last week in July this year. The house was beautifully clean and well equipped, making it ideal for a holiday with our seven little grandchildren and their parents. The space outside was hugely enjoyed by them and us because it was so safe for them to play in, and your generous provision of mountain bikes, table tennis and badminton etc was really appreciated by the adults. The splash pool was an added bonus, much safer than a swimming pool for little children. The surrounding grounds were not only a delight to look at but loved by the older grandchildren for adventures with their fathers. The supermarket in Plestin had an interesting selection of local food and we were fortunate that the good weather enabled us to eat outside on the terrace every evening. Nearby Locquirec and its vast, empty beaches were an absolute delight for young and old. For us it was an idyllic holiday. We all agreed that with seven grandchildren under five it proved a perfect week, and one which we would like to repeat in the future."
