"Loved the peacefulness and ruralness of Maison Massignac. We spent a week there and often enjoyed just staying in and enjoying the location, lovely local foods from the supermarket, and pretty garden with shaded outdoor seating rather than venturing out. The house is extremely well equipped and comfortable, with excellent cookery utensils, pans etc and lots of mugs, crockery and serving dishes of every kind. We also loved having chilled water and ice from the large American fridge in the pantry. It really was one of the best equipped cottages we have stayed at!Whiling away the evenings in the huge comfortable sofas in the living room after a day out in the garden was very relaxing. Sadly it was not cold enough to light the wood burner, but there is plenty of wood....WiFi was spotty upstairs in the main bedroom due to the huge internal walls and the location of the modem downstairs, but not a game changer. Also the thick walls mean no phone signal inside the house, unless you leave your phone on a windowsill and are happy to go outside to take and make phone calls.Nearby Massignac town offers simple grocery shopping facilities, with a few large supermarkets within a 15-20min drive. We particularly likes the Leclerc store in St Junien. We would definitely return here if in the area again. From a personal perspective, whilst the main bed was very comfortable it is a 4’6 bed and we found it a little cramped as we have a superking 6ft bed at home, but that really is personal choice, as the mattress was extremely comfortable. Thanks to the owners for making us so welcome, and following up so quickly on our queries."

"This is a lovely, well-equipped house in a secluded setting. The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming and, although they did not speak English and we only have school-level French, they took time to show us how everything worked and made sure that we had grasped most of it. Although they only live just up the hill, they were very unobtrusive. They had made clear that we could contact them if there were any problems but everything worked perfectly and we did not see them again until it was time to leave. The house is nearly all on the first floor and is accessible via steps to the outside veranda (which might be difficult for anybody with mobility problems). There is a solarium and a shower and loo on the ground floor, near the pool. The veranda has a table and chairs and the pool has lots of sun loungers, and both have a number of large sunshades in good condition. It was hot and sunny the whole fortnight we were there, with temperatures ranging from 27 – 33C so we really appreciated the pool, which was very clean and well-maintained. Given the heat the house was actually remarkably cool (especially the main bedroom) but we did appreciate the fans in every room – including ceiling fans in the main sitting/ dining room - as well as the iced water dispenser in the fridge freezer. The beds were very clean and comfortable and there were also loads of clean towels to use."

"This is a very attractive cottage in a very convenient location for many chateaus and historic towns. It’s well equipped but quite small, especially the living room which is also the kitchen and dining room. If you’re tall the beams in the main upstairs bedroom can be a problem, although we guess that’s part of the charm. It was fine for just two of us or if you have small kids but it’s not really suitable for four adults. Although the bathroom, kitchen fixtures and bedding were all spotless, the cottage needed a good spring clean - there were cob webs and dead flies in the light fittings and probably other places we didn’t look. We mentioned this to the hosts. We didn’t mind the 60 Euro cleaning charge because we paid a fairly low off-peak rate, but we would have been upset by the charge if we’d paid any more given the lack of a recent and thorough clean. The hosts were very friendly and we enjoyed the outside space and bbq patio. The cottage is within the hosts’ walled garden which is lovely if a little claustrophobic."

"The 4 bedroom house was spacious and comfortable, with a large garden and outdoor dining area. It was full of equipment. All the machines worked well, and electricity was included in the price. However, although the info said that Wi Fi was included, it had to be paid for via an 'orange' hub. The instructions were unclear and we had to visit an 'orange' outlet in Quimper to get it to function. This required a payment of 40 euros put on to the sim card. This lasted just a week, and we had to repeat the process for a second week, at a cost of another 40 euros. The house coped well with our family which for one night amounted to 7 persons, the maximum. We found the upstairs wooden floorboards very squeaky, which woke some up when anyone used the facilities during the night."

"The apartment was really well equipped especially the kitchen which even had a dishwasher. The bedroom/lounge area was very well thought out and beautifully decorated. Although the free standing bath with shower was in the bedroom/lounge it was raised up and fully tiled to match the decoration of the room. The owners (Fiona and John) had obviously spent a lot of time decorating and furnishing the apartment to a high standard and we would not hesitate to come back again. Also an added bonus was the location of the apartment which was only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Crest which is a beautiful medieval town with lots of interesting places to visit."
