"'We have stayed at Chateau Du Raguermiere at Easter and Summer and fell in love with it as soon as we visited it the first time. It is very luxuriously decorated in a subtle mix of 19 century style and trendy designer pieces which blend very well to give it an updated classic feel. Staying there is such a special experience and it really feels like home but with all the grandeur of the high ceilings, spacious rooms, long corridors that stretch the length of the building on each floor, immaculate gardens and grounds and the fun feeling that the chateau is really ours for the time we are there! Our children and their friends have enormous fun playing endless games of ‘it’, hide and seek, swimming, running up to the fruit and vegetable garden to choose things they ask John to prepare for their supper, or picking and eating as much fruit as they can. We all tried archery, boules and Frisbee golf and took the bikes out to Langeais. My husband runs the jogging trail and we both used the gym. Caroline even found a Personal Trainer to visit while we stayed, to help to motivate us. John and Caroline are wonderful – helpful, friendly and happy to shop, cook, tidy up and babysit as much as we want; yet never around too much. We have many special memories of delicious, beautifully presented lunches by the pool; evening drinks and canapes in the courtyard or drawing room and superb dinners served in the dining room. Often we just wandered down into Langeais to the local cafes and restaurants for lunch and dinner as it’s such an easy and pleasant walk past the huge Langeais chateau. There’s lots of choice including a pizzeria, creperie, gastronomic restaurants, lots of cafes plus ice cream and chocolate shops. John and Caroline booked some restaurants for us before we arrived in France as we wanted to plan some nights out without the children, so we wandered down to Langeais for dinner while Caroline babysat. The children love them both! The people in the shops, cafes and restaurants speak English and are very friendly; and the town is so nice as it is definitely French and not too touristy. The Sunday market in Langeais is amazing and definitely worth visiting, with every kind of food, crockery, leather goods, clothing, shoes and curios for sale. We would highly recommend holidaying at Chateau De Raguermiere, as it’s our dream place to stay and we only wish we could book it up more often.’ The N Family, Berkshire, UK"

"We spent a fabulous week in August at Chateau de la Cheine - three ex-schools pals with assorted spouses and teenage offspring. The Chateau is a short drive from Bergerac (and nearby airport) and set in its own spacious grounds, with swimming pool and outdoor dining area. The Chateau itself could easily accommodate 16 of us plus baby, with room (and bathrooms!) to spare. Despite its size and air of French grandeur, we quickly felt at home there. On the ground floor there are several large communal rooms, but because of the excellent weather, we spent most of our waking hours outdoors. There is a large, well-equipped kitchen, as well as a games room where the younger members of the group could play pool (hooray!). There was plenty to see & do nearby - Bergerac and its food market are worth a day's visit in their own right - but, most of the time we preferred to relax by the poolside & enjoy the French countryside. Our host, Karen, lives nearby and was a good source of information and advice about things to see and do. For a small extra charge, and by prior arrangement, Karen cooked us a delicious three course meal (plus wine) on our first night. This was a really welcome start to the holiday as we were all weary from our travels. Highly recommended. Our only suggestion would to be to make sure you book two weeks and not one, to give yourselves time to unwind in this stunning holiday destination."

"‘We stayed at Chateau De Raguermiere in July 2012. It is an impressive and attractive 19th century chateau that has been very well restored and beautifully re-decorated. Though it would accommodate a large group, it has an intimate feel. The enclosed wooded grounds are very well kept (including a vegetable garden) and the large heated pool and terrace area are excellent and a sun-trap. We were well looked after and made to feel welcome by the English couple who run the estate – they have lived in France for many years. Domaine Du Fort is on the edge of the attractive small town of Langeais, on the River Loire about 15 minutes west of Tours (which is a noted gastronomic centre). We found a couple of good restaurants and interesting small shops, plus a massive fortress which is worth a visit. The main Loire Valley attractions (Chenenceaux, Villandry, Amboise, etc.) are all close by and there are several reasonably easy routes from the UK. We drove via the Channel Tunnel and near-empty motorways (via Rouen) but there are also Ryanair flights from Stansted to Tours. The other options include a very fast TGV link direct from Tours to Paris CDG airport and the Portsmouth – Caen/St Malo ferry. I’d certainly recommend it for medium and larger parties. The pool and secure grounds make it a very good place for families in the summer.’ Mr A - Henley on Thames, UK"

"We stayed here for 1 week over August, 2 families with 4 children under 6 years of age. Tracy had thought of absolutely everything and more. We arrived at the villa around 8pm and after an 8 hour journey we literally dropped all our bags and jumped into the pool. It was lovely and warm and the evening sun set was a perfect start to our holiday. On exploring the house room by room we could not stop saying WOW the little touches that made our holiday: in one of the children rooms was a complete wardrobe of dressing up clothes, the books and games made the children settle in straight away. The linen and bath towels were new and fresh, the beds lovely to sleep in. The whole villa was very clean and kept to very high standards. The gardens were amazing, a football pitch, go carts for adults and the children! Complete with a huge trampoline and swings / slides. The swimming pool was fenced off and active with a pool alarm, the pool was brilliant, big enough for both families with lots of sun loungers and outside dinning. I could go on and on, what I will say is that if you decide to have your holiday here you will not be disappointed, in fact like us you probably wont even venture out, but of course book early as we indeed to visit this little bit of paradise year after year!!!! Thank you Tracy for a wonderful memorable stay."

"As you know we had a wonderful week. For our family this was a particularly special week - it being my parents Golden Wedding. In many ways that increases the expectations that everyone has of the place we are staying and how the week will go. The Chateau was an exceptionally good place to spend a week as an extended family. There was enough space for all of us despite our very varied ages. The pool was a delight, and it was far enough from the house that the youngest children were easy to keep under observation. The gardens were big enough for games of manhunt and the table tennis table added to the afternoon games. Eating outside in a space where we were comfortable as a group of 21 is a tough expectation, but it was perfectly met. We had one particularly wonderful evening when we celebrated my parents wedding anniversary. The rooms were all lovely. The all exuded delightful french charm with lovely views. There was plenty of space. Again, having a games room inside was a pleasure - one the children of all ages enjoyed. We know the area around Bergerac fairly well, but even so, it was great to spend time in this most lovely part of France. Overall, we were very well looked after in what was a perfect place for our family celebrations. I could not recommend the Chateau more highly."
