"This was a last minute holiday so on paper I may not have booked this cottage but I'm glad it was available .I didn't realise the estuary with lovely views was seconds from our front door ..this was so unexpected that my daughter gasped when she saw it .The pub next door was lively but never encroached on our holiday enjoyment .There was a fab cafe just doors away and a great little shop opposite .10 min in the car to exmouth and 4 minutes on the train which is a minutes walk .The cottage is quirky and a little dated but I felt relaxed and at home .My daughter loved her top floor room with toys and games .Overall I loved the village and the calm energy ,if you have mobility problems you may struggle but it is good value for money compared to the ridiculous amounts some people are asking for ."

"Lovely cottage with reasonable amenities although they were a bit tired. The dishwasher didn't work and the shower fell off wall on first use. Old fashioned furnishings from 1980's but in good repair. Opposite a very popular pub so quite noisy. TheVillage is on national cycle trail so always busy and we neededto look out for cyclists at all times. The trail itself is not very safe for walkers . If you can get over these issues which we did, we loved the outlook over the river exe just captivating due to lovely weather which is around the corner and found everyone very friendly. Something about it is just lovely but for the money - could be better value and didn't wor i.e. The dishwasher and"

"We had a great stay at Madeleine...the sofas could do with updating as they’re ripped but generally the house was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The gardens and pool were fab, we were the only people there as our half term is earlier so I can imagine it gets busy in the pool at other holiday times. We found the ‘pub within 1 mile’ a bit misleading- it’s not a pub it’s a ‘village club’ that is only open occasionally and not exactly inviting in its appearance, plus you would not want to walk there and back in the dark on very narrow unlit roads."

"The cottage was beautifully renovated and very spacious for 5 adults a baby and 2 dogs. It had everything needed to be a home from home .The beds were very comfortable and the decor very clean ,bright and attractive. We were unable to park our 3 cars in the road but there was plenty of room at the village hall car park nearby and opportunity to load and unload the cars outside the cottage. It would have been useful to know where we could exercise the dogs as the roads are not suitable for walks and took us a while to find footpaths.."

"We only had one car but it was still very difficult to find parking even in the public car park by the village hall. ****Owner Response**** Thank you for taking the time to comment. We were pleased to hear that you had a good holiday and that despite the couple of points highlighted, that the property met your expectations. We're sorry to hear that you found parking tricky. As there's no dedicated parking with the property, you need to either find a space on the roadside or use the public car ..."
