What our customers are saying about our Pet Friendly Cottages In Essex To Rent.
Mr Bates - verified booking
"In the kitchen the washing machine soap drawer and door seal were extremely dirty with soap residue etc. and the pots/pans were quite dirty from previous use, these items need more than a cursory wipe over for each handover. In the shower the water failed to drain adequately but improved greatly after I removed a handful of hair and soap scum from the drain hole. This I found unacceptable. Also there was only one bath towel and one hand towel each for the week which is why we had to use the washing machine more than usual. Double or even treble this amount would be an improvement as the weather is not always as good as we had it this time of year, so drying could become an issue. Generally bathrooms need more attention to limescale deposits and all round cleanliness. All said after spending the first couple of hours cleaning these areas - that someone else should have done before our arrival - the house was quite adequate for us and we spent a good week in this charming location. Perhaps also these days, wi-fi wouldn't go a miss. We would certainly stay here again if these comments were improved on."

"The property is comfortable and suitable for a small to medium sized dog with a family. City road is quiet and off road parking gives you peace of mind. 5 minute walk to the beach and 15 minutes to the amenities in the town centre. All mod cons provided meaning that minimal baggage is needed. No Wifi in the house which we found a blessing. Would be helpful for a street map of the island. Macerator loo is noisy but aren't they all - at least it's an en suite. We found the holiday so relaxing both in the pace of life and the fact our faces weren't buried in a screen 24/7. Red squirrels! Lots of beautiful walks ranging from 2-15 miles and with the tide changing by over 5 metres the vista was always changing. We are genuinely looking forward to returning to Mersea and I can't think of a better place than City Road."

"This a great house for family get togethers where plenty of space (inside and out) is essential. Although only a short drive from Sudbury you feel quite remote, with lots of open views across the large grounds which are great if you are taking a four legged friend or children with too much energy to burn! Warm and welcoming with pleasant décor this is an easy house to stay in. On the negative side - the beds seem to vary in softness and the pillows were somewhat chunky. If you like soft or feather pillows, like us, you will need to take your own! However this doesn't really detract from the comfort of the house. We've only visited in winter, I would imagine in summer is even better. The only thing missing for us in the winter is a real fire - a wood burner would be a fantastic addition."

"We had never stayed in a converted double garage before and wont do again! The bed was the main horror complete with a paper thin duvet cover, i actually didnt know you could buy one as cheap and nasty as that. The most important thing to us is a comfortable bed, we had hardly any sleep the whole time we were there., obviously not a priority to the owners, it would be my first one! Couldnt wait to get home to our super king bed, dont get me started on the pillows either! Completely ruined our few days away, for the sake of a decent bed.Other people had remarked on it as well, who had stayed there according to the visitors book and the owners didnt come to say hello either, it has to be the worst place we have ever stayed. Perhaps now they might consider buying a new bed."
