"G. under the beds, in the corners and door frames; dead flies in window areas and curtains. Cobwebs around windows, in curtains, inside many of the spiral cupboard handles and behind all the radiators. Numerous large living spiders. The heat-level numbers and function indicators on the oven and hob were worn away and illegible (no handbook available). No folder containing general information about the house facilities (e.g. how to regulate the heating) and local services (e.g. doctor, supermarket, restaurants, shopping, vet, etc.). Such a folder is standard in almost all holiday cottages we've used. The house provided a cot and highchair for our 24-month-old child, but no stair gates, even though we requested them. The owners permitted dogs (good) but the fence around the property was not adequate to keep a small dog inside. There were no footpaths or fields in the vicinity where we could walk the dogs; this cannot be changed, but should have been mentioned in the description. We would not have taken the house if we had known this. On the positive side, there was a thoughtful provision of milk, toilet paper, kitchen roll, dishwasher tabs, shower gel as well as a homemade cake to greet us. The supply of children's toys was excellent."

"We arrived late on Friday night and were greeted with a note informing us that there was some ice cream and a chocolate pudding waiting for us! Perfect. The cottage was immaculately clean and larger than it appears in the photos. All bedrooms had a bathroom either attached or nearby. One bathroom was suitable for disabled guests. Our children loved sleeping in the attic room. The only slight negative was that the cottage was chilly when we arrived but it warmed through once the heating was on for a while. We were particularly impressed with the free Wi-Fi. Fresh eggs were available at a local farm - if we so wished to purchase them. We visited Alnwick and Seahouses (close by) today and plan to go to Bamburgh Castle and beach tomorrow. A beautiful part of the world and we would visit and stay here again. Thank you."

"Excellent service as always from Sykes. We have rented their cottages for many years and have never been dissapointed. Beach cottage at Beadnell was a lovely, comfortable cottage not even a minutes walk from the beach. It was modern and had character. It surprised me with it's spaciousness. A lovely big kitchen with plenty in it. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom were great for my elderly Mum. The beds were very comfy, (always important) and perfect for a good nights sleep after the beautiful long coastal walks during the day. The beach literally on the doorstep was fantastic for all sorts of watersports and sandcastles! Local village small and welcoming with pubs close by for meals. The harbour was lovely, sat with a cup of tea watching the sunset.. who could ask for more..we had great weather too."

"Beach Cottage is exactly what it says on the tin! Only yards to the stunning Beadnell beach and harbour. It was seventh heaven for our dog Boswell who was welcome at the cottage and swam every day at the entrance to the harbour. The cottage itself was clean, extremely spacious and very comfortable, nicely refurbished but retaining character. Kitchen knives need sharpening and instructions on the heating would have been useful. Beadnell village was very pleasant, albeit we found the pub and chip shop quite expensive. Access to the surrounding towns and villages was very easy and it's a great base from which to explore."

"Beach Cottage is ideally situated. The beach is lovely, with a huge bay of sand right next to the cottage, dunes, a good pebbly/rocky area for exploring just a couple of minutes away, and a small harbour for crabbing and jumping off. 5 minutes in the car to Seahouses, where there are pubs, fish and chip shops, gift shops, and a mini-golf course. Short drives to Alnwick, Bamburgh, Craster, Holy Island etc. The cottage itself needs a bit of tlc - light coloured carpets were a bit grubby, sofas had seen better days, bits of kitchen falling off - but fine as a base camp, and we would stay again. There is no wifi."
