"We stayed as a family group of 8 adults and 3 children, from the start we could feel the family atmosphere as we entered this superb house. As we admired the space, decor and views we came across the welcome pack in the kitchen/diner which was a very pleasant and much appreciated surprise which set the tone for a very pleasant family weekend. We had a great family meal in the large dining room where we all could be together whilst preparing in the open kitchen, the children exploring the superb well equipped bedrooms or in the games/ cinema room... Brilliant for them too! The house was so nice you could be excused for locking the door and just enjoying the whole experience inside but we didn't and walked to the nearby beach past the golf course, farmers fields with farm animals and berry picking on the way. We all will remember our stay here not just for the anniversary but the ambience of the whole package... Credit to the owners!"

"Set in a stunning location overlooking Dunstanburgh Castle, you open you curtains to one of the finest views in Northumberland. Nevermind the weather at this time of year as you are warmed by the cosy underfloor heating and log-burners. The property has been finished throughout to a very high standard. There is enough space for large groups to spread out and find their own spaces whether it is in the well appointed kitchen with large dining table just right for entertaining, or one of the two sitting rooms. The Lookout is tastefully furnished and decorated with calming colours. Traveling with family, we enjoyed walks down to beach and nearby Craster, via Dunstanburgh Castle. The Greys Inn, just round the corner offers a friendly welcome and serves food together with a good range of guest ales. A great base for exploring this area of Northumberland such as Holy Island, Alnwick and Bamburgh. A return visit is assured."

"A great place for a family holiday – Granary Stone House is very comfortable and well designed, with plenty of space for our party of three generations. The pool table gets plenty of use in all weathers. In fact we were lucky with the weather which meant we could enjoy the longish walk through fields and wild flowers down to the beach. It's a good mile (good exercise for joggers and walkers of all ages in our party) wouldn't be quite such fun in wet and windy weather. It's a beautiful location and there's plenty to explore Low Newton and Embleton and Craster in particular are all welcoming places to visit with good local pubs, excellent sea food and great character. The sunset cruise from Seahouses to the Farne Islands made a perfect activity on the last night. All in all, a very happy week. We can highly recommend Granary Stone House, the efficient friendly support from Sykes, and we hope to be back."

"This was a good, well equipped property and we enjoyed our stay there. The information that dogs were not allowed due to allergies was very clear; we were nonetheless disappointed not to be able to bring them for that reason when the property was so dusty - surely if the owners have issues with asthma, dust is as much of a problem as dog hairs? The property looked beautiful on the website and the reality was a bit disappointing - not as luxurious as it looked, or as the price indicated it would be.On the plus side, it was comfortable, there was plenty of hot water and plenty crockery, glassware, cutlery, etc (and yet strangely short of serving spoons!), and it was never cold, as properties of that size and age can be.We tried our best with the recycling; the information was well presented and yet it still seemed confusing - I hope we got it right."

"Just returned from a Bank Holiday weekend visit to Embelton/Northumberland. We stayed in the house called the LOOK OUT in Embelton...what an amazing house it was. It accomodated 12 of us very comfortably and the facilities in house were good. As the weather was so excellent it was great to sit out front and look down to the sea...fantastic view in all directions. The only thing we missed was having a few patio chairs or a bench outside on the terrace to sit, there is a great garden area just to the side of the house with picnic tables which we used but when cooking in the house it would have been good just to walk out the front door, sit on the terrace and be near to the front door to pop in and keep an eye on the food cooking. Plenty of pubs in the village and a shop that sells most things needed. All in all a great place to be,"
