"Very well presented cottage in a lovely part of the world. It's close to a fairly quiet fast road but the noise from traffic isn't a problem. To be clear we are seasoned travelers and rent four or five properties in the UK each year and I guess are fairly picky. The ground floor layout and standard of finish is generally high and very comfortable for just two guests. The bedroom and bathroom are both lovely too and the bed was very comfortable and the property was immaculately clean throughout. The owner also left several items of produce which is always appreciated and when we spoke to him he was both helpful and kind. This cottage already scores well but could very easily be a perfect retreat with just a few minor adjustments and these are mentioned to hopefully assist the owners. As this is a dog friendly property, a cornerstone of any property we rent would be the garden. This cottage would really benefit from a secure (fenced garden) because the cottage is near to a road and any k9 toilet break means you too are out in whatever weather is about at the time. The garden could do with being checked too as there was a bit of broken glass around. Wifi is important to us and there was nothing in the property to tell us how to connect (ie the password), which meant a call to the owner, who fortunately was available and also fortunate that we had a mobile signal. However, it was only at this point that we were informed that the broadband was on a limited monthly download allowance and whilst it worked properly we were advised not to use it too much in case there'd be nothing left for those renters that followed. There were a few other small matters, which could so easily have been resolved by an in-house instruction manual, which would make life for the guests and the owners so much easier. All that said it's lovely but with a few tweaks could be memorable."

"Lovely cottage, really homely and comfortable. Mattress far too soft resulting in my back going out on the first night, spoke to owners, lovely family, they came round a couple of hours later with a firmer mattress for us. The driveway track is not good as affected by weather and farm vehicles. Not good for cars with low suspension and low profile tyres. We have a four wheel drive truck so no problem. Or if a normal car, just go careful and it would be ok. There is a shelter over the front door where you can park which is good especially on frosty mornings. A small garden area with decking and patio set and rotary line. The views are fantastic. Countryside and mountains and lots of sheep. There is a log burner in the lounge comfy leather suite and thick rug, dining table & chairs. Music centre, TV, DVD, Video Player and more games than any single toy shop I have seen. The kitchen is well equipped. A welcome basket and filled fruit bowl welcome you on arrival and the owner even popped round with 2 bowls of lovely sticky toffee pudding she had made one evening. This was our second visit and it suits us very well."

"A fantastic location, perfect if you’re looking for somewhere peaceful and secluded.Recieved a very warm and friendly welcome, and very accommodating during our stay.Cottage with superb views of the surrounding countryside - the views North are uninterrupted and you can see the hills of the Trossachs National Park.Fresh eggs for breakfast and a game of tennis on the tennis court at the end of the day (if you have any energy left after your day exploring... or you might prefer to sit in front of the fuel burning stove in the living room)The children loved the tennis court and they also loved the farm dogs too - and were sad to have to say goodbye at the end of our stay.It makes for a good base for anyone wanting to explore the outdoors, whilst remaining close enough to Stirling and Glasgow for any shopping or visits to the Castle and other attractions."

"My sister and I have visited Barn Owl Cottage for last 3 years running, which should begin to tell you how good this place is. It is an absolutely fabulous cottage in an out-of-the-way location. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing, the situation is great, but you are not too far from motorways and main roads, to take you to some great days out. We visited loads of places, but were happy to be back at the cottage in the evenings. It is clean, comfortable and very well equipped. Hosts, George and Morag, are wonderful, welcoming people and make you very much at home. There is an Honesty Room on site which has DVDs, books, leaflets for sightseeing etc. It is all very well worth the money and I'm about to book up again for next years holiday. We adore this place and will keep coming back."

"The cottage is in a lovely position at the top of a slope looking down over a loch with a fabulous view from the large bedroom window. Everything is immaculately kept, and it had everything we needed including a very generous welcome pack on arrival. Towels, bath robe and even slippers were included. The owners have provided an 'honesty room' where you can get a variety of information or borrow games, DVDs etc. though we didn't actually get time to use these as we had only booked 3 nights. The cottage is away from everything but ideally situated for sightseeing - we visited Balloch at Loch Lomond, Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, the Wallace Monument and Edinburgh and also had a lovely evening stroll round the loch next to the cottage. Perfect break!"
