"Very disappointing. The owners seemed not to care. As requested we phoned the owners in the week before our arrival to say that although we were booked from the friday we would not in fact arrive until the saturday. They said that they would be away on saturday at a wedding in Scotland but would make sure that "someone" would be on site to welcome us, show us around, and deal with any issues. Nobody was there. We saw the owners once just before we left at the end of our stay. The hot water ran out after 24 hours. We discovered that the hot-water heater had been turned off. The kitchen was minimally equipped. For example there was no frying pan, and barely sufficient crockery for six. There was a bbq (as advertised) but it lacked a gas tank. The clothes drier seemed not to work and there was no operators manual. Several light sockets lacked a bulb, the tv connection was faulty (I fixed it), the heating was difficult to figure out and control, There was no explanation of how the power remotely controlled gates worked. The resident dogs regularly used the back lawn as a toilet (good job there were no children in our party). The comments in the guest book mentioned many of these same issues, which suggests that the owners should have been aware of these deficiencies but didn't do anything about them. The rent was increased for that week, it being the UK half-term, which made the deficiencies harder to accept. It's a pity. The location is excellent, and the rural ambiance is delightful."

"The 'house' was not at all suitable for a dog as the living room was upstairs and dogs were not allowed upstairs. The downstairs bedroom had no windows so was dark and airless. The upstairs bedroom was too light. The blinds on the window were useless and there was a street lamp outside. The velux windows had blinds on them but it was impossible to reach them so they were uncovered all the time. There was no dishwasher which is fair enough but there was no draining board to put the washed items. With a wet dog and child, it would have been a good idea to come and go through the utility room but then the dog (and the rest of us) would have had to go through the downstairs bedroom (which was not allowed).I would not describe the house as 'end of terrace'. It was more like a garage conversion! It looked very modern and attractive inside but was really not very user friendly."

"Lovely spacious and clean property, easily would accommodate eight adults. Well equipped and with friendly informative hosts - also available a very short distance away for any queries or problems.Parking 'disc' provided for free parking in local towns which was a welcome bonus - make sure you note the time of free parking as this does vary from car park to car park.Well situated being close to local attractions with lots within a thirty minute car journey. Cottage is very close to a railway line and crossing but have to say that we didn't particularly notice any excess noise. At the recommendation of the hosts used the train to travel into Newcastle which worked perfectly with free parking at Morpeth station and once in Newcastle everything was easily within walking distance. Information on beaches and attractions also provided."

"I very spacious cottage that was well equipped for our stay. Personally we found the mattress too soft. And in the age of technology, wifi would have been a huge advantage. However, the beach was lovely and was only a few minutes walk. We took a stroll one evening and were amazed at the amount of jellyfish!! (We had never seen so many). There is a pele castle across the road from the house and whilst there we had a leaflet pushed through about archeologists doing survey work in the nearby areas surrounding the castle. (Very exciting). We had complimentary tea, coffee, milk and chocolate upon arrival, which was lovely, as well as bottles of water per person. It had the added bonus of stair gates which was fabulous when having twin two year olds."

"We had an autumn holiday in this warm and welcoming cottage. The facilties are as presented in the book description and the host are welcoming and friendly. The cottage is ideally located for country and coast vists. There are good National Trust properties in the area which are well worth making time for. Linidsfarne is worth the day and the coastal paths around here make for good walking. The one thing we failed on was to find Northumberlandia. Locals we asked (inclduing a tour guides) each gave a different location, some very far off the mark! The best (and most accurate) information we got was foiled by road works so that is one place left ot visit and maybe by next time there will be some signage in place to help."
