"The photo above is not of 268 Gurnard Pines - probably another property on the site. Gurnard Pines is described as a Holiday village but many of the properties on site are residential and some are needing some care and attention. We were advised that there was parking for 2 cars immediately outside the property. There was space for 2 cars but not solely for the use of the occupants so the space was not always available. Whilst the property was very clean and most things were in very good condition the only seating in the lounge area was 2 sofa beds - not always easy to get up from. There was only one small wardrobe in the main bedroom - nowhere to hang clothes in the other two bedrooms - which just had a chest of drawers. We were fortunate to have good weather which was good as there was nowhere in the property to hang coats etc."

"We thought that the cottage was both charming and beautifully furnished: a real home from home and we would love to come back again next year! The bathroom was particularly lovely and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need. The views from the upper floors over Southampton Water and the small courtyard garden were a real bonus. We were lucky enough to have great weather but, if it had been wet, it would have been quite cosy to have all 6 of us sitting down together in either the kitchen or the sitting room. As it was Cowes Week, it was very busy in the town and we struggled to find parking very close to the house at times but I would think it would be better at other times. It was a good walk down to the centre of Cowes where there are some great restaurants - but not so great going uphill on our return journey."

"The Sailors Knot is a lovely, solid and secure feeling house. The sitting room is very cosy with the fire alight. The stairs are quite steep though for the elderly or infirm. There were enough facilities to keep you comfortable. However, in the colder weather it would be nice to have the heating on in advance. When we arrived the temperature inside was only 11 degrees, and it took a full 24 hours to warm up. The extension to the kitchen is lovely whatever the weather. The kitchen is well equipped and the downstairs loo and shower are very handy. Lovely upstairs bathroom - bedrooms 2 and 3 a bit crammed. Was disappointed in the cleanliness. Lots of cobwebs on the ceiling and the kitchen floor was dirty. Perhaps because the owners are away travelling?"

"The directions to the flat were geared more towards car users, so on foot we walked much further than necessary and found a much more direct route from the chain ferry the next day. Otherwise, the property was lovely. The bed has a memory foam mattress which makes for a very comfortable night's sleep, and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils and very well equipped. The oven didn't seem to work, which was a little disappointing, but the job was fine. All of the doors apart from the bathroom door were incorrectly hung which meant that none of them closed. The balcony could do with new furniture and a bit of a clean. Overall, I'd recommend this property to others as a very good base for exploring the isle. A car would be recommended though. "

"Brilliant position, we originally loved the flat but it's getting very tired now. Carpets getting very dirty, Windows difficult to open, one falling out. Balcony paint badly chipped and green with mould. Balcony furniture very dirty. 2 of the 3 bulbs in the bathroom were broken so limited light. It's a shame!. It's in desperate need of a little love and care now so we won't be returning again. This was our 4 th year in the same flat and it had definitely deteriorated. The public areas also require a lot of work, damp by access door, badly soiled carpets, a carpet runner that was curled and was a trip hazard.Stunning views from window but that's not enough. It's not now to the standard we would expect."
