"Orchard Cottage is a pretty property in a quiet hamlet. Its location provides easy access to the western lakes and to interesting coastal towns and villages. The cottage is generally comfortable, but the dining chairs could do with replacing as none of them are comfortable to sit on. We used cushions from the settee for padding. The mattress topper is a bit soft and very warm which caused us to wake up every night in a sweat. There was no protector on the topper which was stained. The tea pot is an absolutely hopeless pourer and needs replaced, and there is still a need for a clothes horse--it is the Lake District after all, where are folk meant to hang wet coats etc. to dry after a day in the rain, never mind any washing?Despite these small grumbles, we had a lovely holiday based at Orchard Cottage. The countryside is beautiful, and there is so much to see and do. We would happily stay there again and recommend the cottage to friends.Thank you for the bottle of wine on arrival. It was much appreciated.P.S. Key safe not very easy to find/access."

"The cottage is beautiful... Absolutely perfect... We were there with 4 adults and 4 children aged 2,9,10 and 11 ...plenty of space, loads of storage, best equipped kitchen we've ever had on a cottage holiday. The garden is perfect for the kids, not quite fully enclosed but nearly. The views out of the windows are awesome... Loved waking up to the nags in the field... 2 toilets is a excellent thing to have with so many people...The beds were comfortable and each room was huge.Whole house was pretty basic with exactly what we wanted. The farmer and his family are absolutely the nicest people, couldn't do enough for us, even down to finding some pegs for the washing line. The beach is just down the rd and is shallow and safe for kids. Beautiful walks on your doorstep. There is a local shop which is well stocked if you get stuck, but there's nothing else nearbyDefinitely going again, wonderful cottage. X"

"We thought the property was ours for the week so were very unimpressed to arrive home one afternoon to find someone actually in the property said he was checking electrics. We had left personal items in the property of ours. Then again another day we came home and found that someone had been around as windows had been closed in kitchen and bathroom that we had left on catches. We took our dog and one night went to let her out at 10pm only to find an enormous cow in the garden who would not move and took up the stance ready to charge so had to ring owners and he came down and got cow back into field but every day after in the evening the cow came down and tried to get back into the garden so felt very unsure about letting out dog into garden on her own. Even thought generally we were with her we didn't feel able to turn our backs."

"We stayed here as part of a family holiday & having both cottages worked brilliantly. Especially having the golf course. They only reason I marked lower for comfort is because I found the double bed in Yew Tree cottage too firm for me and therefore uncomfortable. However I have rheumatoid arthritis so it is a very presonal thing to every individuals preference. Others will find it comfortable I'm sure. It wouldn't prevent us from returning to the cottage. I would simply sleep in a different bed. It is a lovely well equipped cottage. Lots of character. Great shower. Great bath. Lots of room. Lovely surroundings and plenty to do. Our weather was a bit challenging so we didn't allow us to walk or cycle as much as we'd have liked. Brilliant secure storage for bikes. All in all a lovely spot."

"A very nice cottage, comfortable and with all the kitchen equipment we needed. We booked the cottage before deciding what we would want to do, so it required some reasonably long trips (c1 hour) to some of the places we ended up wanting to go (Keswick, Windemere), but this was our fault in not doing the research. There was, however, plenty to do in the local area with Muncaster castle and walks near Nether Wasdale nearby. The local shop is well worth a visit, for the sausages if nothing else!We also couldn't get any mobile phone reception, although it was nice to be cut off from constant calls and messages while in the cottage!All-in-all, a great place to go to get away from things, while still being able to travel to most places within around an hour."
