"There was lots of space for 15 of us to spread out with lots of seating areas. The main sitting room had nice seating with a log burner. There was a large dining room with an extendable table to get us all round at mealtimes. The kitchen was big and well stocked with utensils and had a smaller table and chairs and a window seat for smaller gatherings. There was also an AGA which took a bit of getting used to and you could not cook anything if you were in a rush but there was also microwave for ‘emergencies’. The property had 2 dishwashers which were very useful for larger families. There was a washing machine in the utility room but no tumble dryer which we found slightly problematic at times and, other than the fridges and freezer there was nowhere to store other food. The grounds surrounding the property are nice and the small children played croquet whilst the older ones played tennis. The 9 seater hot tub was a huge bonus. There was a separate cottage with 2 bedrooms (1 double bedroom and 1 single). The cottage was entirely self-sufficient with a kitchen and shower room and was only a few steps from the main house. On our arrival we were met by the owner who showed us around and how things worked etc which was useful. We had his phone number if we needed him and did not feel that it was necessary for him to keep coming back and letting himself into the house to check on us. That aside we had a wonderful time."

"The house is in a great location and good surroundings, but it is in a very poor state of repair. The games room is just unpleasant to be in, the house is in need of re-decoration and isn't well maintained. The handle fell of off the oven whilst it was just warming up and it was obvious that it had been glued on a number of different occasions and then we had a very rude women tell us that we were going to have to pay for it and hung up on us. We have never experienced such rude and arrogant behaviour. Not what you want to be doing on a weekend away, but If you stay here, take lots of pictures beforehand to use as evidence for any false accusations of damage. Also take candles & torches with you, as there was a power cut and when we spoke to the same women, we were told that it happens on a regular basis because of the remote location and we should keep the fire going to make sure we stayed warm and that was the end of her help!! A drive to the not so local garage and £25 later on torches and candles and a ruined evening could have been helped if the owner kept basic supplies for events like that. (to help the next set of unfortunate holiday makers, we have left matches and candles in the utility room!) A shame, as the house has real potential they just need to maintain it properly and reinvest some of the rental income back into bringing the standards up and invest in a customer services course for the women running it."

"I would start by saying my family has been staying in rented cottages for many years. So we review by comparing with previous experiences.Directions to the cottage were not as clear as they could have been the initial turn is more than 50 metres after the railway crossing and is actually sign posted for Clungunford. This cottage was clean and the location was good. However, on arrival the first thing we found was most of the locks were so stiff it was difficult to open any of the doors. It then became clear that both fridges and the freezer were switched off so frozen food brought specially for a disabled guest was ruined. One of the fridges did not work at all. There was only one front door key which for a cottage taking up to 12 was a problem. The advertised payphone had been disconnected / was defective and cell coverage was poor. Given the isolation of the cottage this was a concern. Contacting the local key-holder was difficult with her land line disconnected due to a house move and the poor cell coverage. One television in such an expensive property was surprising and the DVD player did not work. The long list of do nots in the "welcome folder" does not set a good tone.Overall the cottage was pleasant but for the price charged compared to the facilities offered it fell well short of what others charging less provide."

"Clean. Accommodation flexible (lots of bedrooms). However, our double bedroom did not have a wardrobe! Kitchen well equipped and sufficient size for our large (12) group. Lounge dreadful, massive space, lighting appalling. The lounge was chilly during the day and freezing in the evening (rainy June). The central-heating is totally inadequate in this room. There is a log burning "feature fire" which has seen better days, which guests have to light, it is useless at heating such an enormous space. Besides freezing, everybody spending the evening in there comes out reeking of smoke! We were under the impression that this property was suitable for people with mobility issues, it is not. There are steps into the property and steps between the kitchen and the lounge. The access road got very boggy and rutted due to the torrential rain when we were there. So, anyone with a small or low car may want to be aware of this."

"We had a brilliant stay at MAC's house! The house was perfect for our family celebration, it is big with a wonderful family living space and a cosy (and big) lounge. The house is in an excellent condition with lots of space and wonderful grounds, our dog was able to run around to get hearts content! My only feedback would be that the drive/track to the house would benefit from having the pot holes filled in and wfh would have loved to have had champagne glasses (but maybe we didn't find them?!) I was very happy with the service received when I called the local contact to find the travel cot. The local organic food centre was amazing too! (Around 2 miles away) would highly recommend!!!"
