"We had a lovely week at the Blue door, the house is immaculately clean and warm. And only a very short walk up the hill to the town centre which is such a lovely place to visit. Lots of restaurants close by you don't need to drive anywhere. Parking at the blue door is for one car only which was great for us as most of the week it was only my husband and myself. Our son came to visit us for the weekend and found free parking on the next street along but this is not available during the week, although there is a pay carpark by the railway station 5 minutes away. We never fully found out how to work the Apple T.V. as there was no instructions but this was our fault as we could have asked. The Wi-Fi was great and very fast. Please remember when you visit to bring everything you need to start you off i.e. salt/pepper milk dishwasher tablets etc but if you forget the shops are so near it’s not a problem . I loved cooking in the large kitchen but couldn’t cook lasagne or casserole as we couldn’t find an oven dish to cook this in, however there is oven trays and pots and pans so all good. We had a lovely week in a lovely house in a lovely town. We would very much recommend this property"

"We found the house to be in a great location and there was lots of space internally. However, some of the rooms smelt of smoke, particularly the games room and middle first floor bedroom and the kitchen surfaces were sticky. The shower rails in the bathrooms were inadequate and the temperature and pressure of the showers themselves fluctuated without altering the temp manually. The fridge freezer, for a house advertised as sleeping 9 people was far too small and the bbq was a joke as it was tiny and didn't appear to have been cleaned at all.The house just seemed a little un-loved which was a shame. There should also be more information regarding neighbours and the fact that the hot tub is on a timer, on the website. We hadn't realised that we would be unable to use it after 9.30pm!I feel that the house was over priced for the level of accommodation offered and for that reason I would not stay again."

"We were a family of 8 adults and 2 small dogs that enjoyed an excellent week in Waldeck over Christmas. Waldeck has a really nice feel to it and was a real "home from home" for the family and was even decorated with a tree and xmas lights. The whole house was very well equipped with anything and everything that you are ever likely to need for a large family gathering. The property was very clean throughout and there was plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. The gardens were very kept very tidy. Well located for dog walking in the nearby Delamere Forest, for shopping in Chester, and the Goshawk pub only 250 yds away was very good. There is an excellent A to Z supplied by the owner which tells you everything about the property and the surrounding area. Would thoroughly recommend Waldeck to any family planning to visit the area and hopefully we will return again in the future."

"We particularly appreciated the spacious fridge/freezer and empty cupboard space in the kitchen, the powerful walk-in shower in the ensuite bedroom, the large tv/dvd, the beautiful stained glass mural in the dining area. Our Sportage just fitted into the garage - what a blessing to have parking in Chester! We had a little difficulty on arrival opening the key safe but were able to phone the cleaner who arrived and helped us out. We felt that the information provided in the house about using equipment and various services eg hot water/heating & recycling was not always very easy to understand. Despite a few niggles like having no bath mats provided and suffering an invasion of ants into the kitchen in the extremely hot weather, we found St Mary's Hill Cottage an excellent base for our holiday."

"We had a lovely family holiday in this wonderful house. The location is perfect very close to the train, the pub and dalamere forest on the doorstep with Chester just a few miles away. A beautiful location, lovely gardens and well equipped house. The rooms are huge and although there were 7 of us there was plenty of room. It really is a home from home. The owners are extremely helpful and genuinely can’t do enough for you. I would love to come back and do more, 3 nights isn’t enough to explore all the things around. I’d highly recommend this house and location, we thoroughly enjoyed it and all commented how lovely everything was. Thank you so much for making us welcome and hope to visit again soon."
