"There is no doubting the absolute beauty of the building and the area especially on first impressions, and the quirks of a building of that age are to be expected too, however despite the quaintness and charm that were present in abundance, the place was in dire need of a thorough cleaning. While some cobwebs are to be expected, I couldn't even reach a plug socket behind a bedside table without becoming absolutely covered and had to use a spare dishcloth we'd brought with us in order to clear away those just around the bed and stands in our own room - each room had the same and there was no duster on site. Upon arrival to the cottage it was discovered the fridge had had something spilled that had dried and left a smell and had not been cleaned out properly plus the necessary number of towels had not been left; when this was brought to the caretaker's attention we were told we were welcome to seek alternative accommodation if this wasn't to our standards. And towards the end of the break when someone had used the upstairs shower, this obviously needed re-sealing/grouting as water later was discovered dripping through the ceiling and down one of the walls downstairs. I did ring to alert the caretaker but got an answer machine so left details but had no follow up to this so assume it's a known issue but again couldn't be sure. While these things didn't spoil the trip as the place truly is beautiful and with good weather I couldn't think of a better setting, it was a shame it doesn't seem better cared for as it's really a unique and stunning building with so much character."

"The lodge was beautiful there is no doubt about that, Unfortunately i feel the lodge is over priced based on other lodges with fishing lakes attached. The fact i book 3 days but cant book in until after 4pm on the first day is a joke. This is a fishing lodge and anglers want to be there early to get a full 3 days fishing and turning up after 4pm is very silly and this really needs looking into. This was my second time stopping and out of all that went we agreed because of the late check in times we were not getting our monesy worth and have already booked elsewhere for next year. "A beautiful bolt hole away from a busy life. 6 adults had a wonderful stay at the Temple. The grounds & building itself are quite exceptional. The property was spotlessly clean, with wonderfully comfortable furnishings & in contrast to the age of the property, there was all the modern equipment you could need but in a sympathetic way to the fabric of the building. We spent most of our time in the kitchen & fabulous orangery. The property manager was very helpful when we had a slight issue. Quite simply - fabulous & would highly recommend."

"A beautiful place to stay, our holiday was perfect. This barn is pure luxury, so tastefully decorated and fitted out with everything you could possibly need. The area was very quiet and peaceful but it was easy to get to lots of great places for days out, the Monkey Forest and beautiful Dovedale in the Peak District were wonderful. Having a hot tub and summer house in the pretty garden were a real bonus too - there is even a big hammock to relax on. I cannot praise this place highly enough, we just didn't want to leave."

"A comfortable Lodge in a lovely setting. The men enjoyed their fishing very much. Plenty of sites and places to visit in very closeproximity. Furnishings were minimal in places - no bedside lamps in ensuite bedroom and no mirror in other double bedroom. Plenty of drawers and wardrobes with hangers. Bathrooms very clean and showers very good. Some nice touches like 2 large wind up torches and electric lean machine grill. Overall excellent, would not hesitate in recommending."
